Today I was getting ready for work and something told me to drive my car today but like a dumb a$$ i took the bike any way. Well on my way to work I was on the highway and a cars stopped abrubtly in front of me and I attemped to stop but it was not enuff and I smacked in to the back of the car fliped over the bike and landed on my back. I am ok other than a head ache and a skinned elbo. However my poor black baby is not in the best of shape. The forks are bent(not bad but bent) about two inches back. there is a hole in the oil filter broken clutch lever, skinned up hand gips, bent up shifter lever and broken front fender. the good news is all of the stuff is replaceable and with the exception of the forks it all should be pretty cheap. I just sucks I cant ride my bike untill i fix all of that crap. The car had almost no damage at all except a small tire mark. |

Glad you are ok and walking and talking. If you can get the front forks apart (the spring will be a bitch with that much bend in it) you can take the tubes to a muffler shop and they should be able to bend them straight. If there are dents in it they are pretty much toast. |

Glad you're ok. I will hopefully be getting around to doing an X1 fork swap this winter, so I'll have forks available, but no ETA on when I'll be doing it. Sorry to hear about the wreck, never good. Hope all is well otherwise! |

Actually this may be my excuse to be able to do that switch my self as it is something I have been wanting to do now i can justify it. |

Man, I hate to hear that. But it sure sounds familiar. I bet the hole in your filter is just like mine! But looking at the probable bright side; you WEREN'T in your car. If you had been, you probably would have hit the car harder, gotten a ticket, had to involve your insurance company and be paying for three years!(assuming and hoping that didn't happen anyway) That's a much longer headache. Sometimes it's just which way you look at it. Maybe you did it the best way you could, if you just HAD to run over something. Rotzaruck! |

well good news is i ordered all of the parts and it was less than $300 so it should be up and running in less than a month. the only thing that will take time is the fact that I have to take it to my dads house because he has all the stuff i need to do the fork rebuild like a way to get the bike off of the ground. |

Wow! That is good. I would have thought it would be worse than that. Hope it all goes quick and easy, and no surprises. More inspiration to get mine going! |

well there is no labor cost because me and my dad are doing the work. Last night I changed the oil and oil filter so it runs now. This after noon I am going to load it in the back of a freind of mines truck and take it to east texas were my dad is going to meet me and take it to his house and when the parts come in ill go to his house and help put them on. Or he may put them on and i just go pick the bike up but either way it should not be down too long. It also helps that my dad is retired and now thats all he does is work on alot of the harleys in SW louisiana so he gets a big discount from one of the harley shops near there because of all the business he does with them. |

Wow Firebolt sorry to read about your accident. Glad you didn't get hurt. I'm also glad to read your getting her back together. I noticed some where around here you had a picture of her posted and she is awesome. I'm thinking about replacing my air box someday and have been looking into my options and was wondering what you have on your bike. Is it the X1 Tank Accent ? It looks kinda like it but Dave told me about a Forcewinder that sounds a lot like it. I hope I'm not jumping off subject here in this thread. Sorry if I am. Glad your Ok and your Bike is getting fixed |

this is an old picture. But since this picture i have changed the mirrors, put blinkers on it, and put a back finder on it. But this is to show you the intake which is the force. the x1 tank accents you are talking about only work on the x1 because the x1 tank is different then the rest of the tubeframe bikes and it has a plastic cover over the tank and then the airbox matches up to the tank so when you use another airbox besides the stock one it leaves a gap at the bottom of the cover. American Sport Bike made some accents to cover that up if you use an aftermarket intake like the forcewinder or the racing hamcan type. I like the force and think they look great bt some of the guys on here say they do not like it for different reasons. |

Thank you Very Much. That explains a lot of stuff. That is one sweet bike you got. I really like the looks of the force on it. I will probably go with the oval if or when I do swap the box. But for looks I like the force the best. Hey ? Is that a burn out I see on the pavement in front of your bike ? |
