I was coming down the street, and all of a sudden the bike just starts cutting out and it won't run above idle. I turned it off and it fired right back up and idled fine, but started cutting out and misfiring when I gave it any gas. Is this likely the fuel filter? I had to get a ride to work and I'll pick up the bike in the morning. |

Sounds like carb but could be the fuel filter. When was the last time you rebuilt the carb? I find I have to do mine about every 5 years or so. Regardless it does sound like a fuel delivery problem. Frank |

Do S2's have fuel filters? My M2 only has a screen on the inlet tube for the petcock. Did you try popping the gas cap to see if you've got a vacuum in your tank, old breather lines can plug up and it's easier to check first before having to pull your carb off... |

+1 tank breather. Pop the cap loose next time it happens, it should run just fine once you release the vacuum. This one's easy to spot - if you *know* you have gas, but it's acting just like it wants you to flip to reserve...it's the breather. No fuel filter on an S2, just the screen on the petcock. It is replacable, but I usually just clean with brakleen, look for holes, and reinstall if all is good |

What carb are you running? When i had my edelbrock the needle pulled out from the top and seated itself in the seat,it would idle but not rev. |

Turned out to be a cracked off connection on the ground cable. Luckily I had a spare in my closet from a box of parts I aquired 6 months ago before I even thought about buying a Buell, so I replaced it in about 5 min. |
