Came out this morning to ride to school. Did everything i normally do then hit the starter and....nothing. Battery was fully charged and everything. I can hear a click near the motor when i hit the start button but thats all that happens. Already checked the obvious stuff like spark plugs wires connected, kill switch in on position, even with the side stand up and still nothing...I have a feeling its something small and im just not thinking of it. Ideas? |

Check the cables to the battery with a wrench to make sure they are tight. |

Just because the BATTERY shows a correct full charged battery reading does not insure the CRANKING AMPS/VOLS are high enough to start the engine ... (Message edited by buellistic on November 05, 2008) |

Check your grounding strap between the frame and the rear swingarm (on the frame side). There is a small washer that if rusted will prevent your bike from getting enough juice to start. I found this when mike bike would randomly not start, usually after being parked outside overnight or after driving in the rain. After cleaning the connection I replaced the washer with a stainless one 3 years ago. I have not had a problem since. |

Forgot to mention, this will also prevent your bike from charging the battery properly! This would make you think it could be a battery, stator, or other electrical issue. |

to jump clutch switch, use 2 alligator clips connected by a wire, pull the plug at clutch lever clip the alligator wire to both sides of plug. |

If it's not the clutch safety switch jump the wires on you sidestand safety switch, plenty of people have had trouble with those. I second Koz on a check of the ground strap, and Buellfighter and battery cables since you just replaced that. Let us know what you find when you get her going. |

It was the starter relay. I could hear a clikcing sound coming from the rear end and i traced it to the relays. Second one to go out on me in about 3 months which is weird. I think they were the stock ones though...Thanks for your help though guys i do appreciate it. |

I think you can buy one of those button type that I think would allow you to start the bike if that popped up again. Look here http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=2853 E63F-DDAF-4D29-9C27-09EA09CE013D Might be worth checking out. |
