Hey guys, My s3 has a damaged front fairing. I have a replacement on order but have been thinking that I may be better off just ditching the fairing all together and putting on a universal mount like this. http://www.flyncycle.com/acatalog/RAPTOR_ONE_FAIRI NGS.html . I'm just using the bike around town or for 100 mile or less rides. Having a fork mounted fairing would open the possibilities for more bars as well. I'm not too sure what I would do for the tach and speedo. Any advice/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Lee, I have an extra X1 speedo and tach that may be plug and play- $75 + shipping and it is yours. It should tuck up behind the fairing you are looking at. Or you could order an x1 bar clamp (part # 55875-99Y and the x1 dash panel (part # 71281-99Y)and mount your own stuff in it. Andrew |

Lee I would like to see it when you are done. How does that compare in size with the S3 stock fairing? Joe |

Thanks guys. I'm just wanting to look at different options because I would really like to use some different bars but they interfere with the factory fairing. I'm going to take the fairing off today and take a look underneath to see what/if anything can be done. I really don't want to re invent the wheel but if I can change it over fairly easily then I probably will do it. I am planning on painting it this winter so I need to figure out what I'll do with the front fairing. If I do away with the fairing then I'll have to do something with the tach/speedo/ignition switch. Wardan I'm guessing those two part numbers will let me move my existing stuff into those mounts? Will I need anything else? Thanks again. Bad Karma.....that site has a link to the dimensions. It is really just a small fairing that will hook onto the forks(kinda like an m2 front end). |

well I tore pretty deep into the bike today. I removed the fairing, dash panel, instruments, and related bracketry. Also removed the rear supports for the saddlebags. I mounted the bars I had for it and really like the way it sits now. For a speedo I think I am just going to use a bar mount for my Garmin gps. I can't decide on what front fairing I want so I am going to just mount a couple of cheap lights for now until I really decide what I want. |
