I just had both headers scratched up by a loose header clamp on my 00 x1. which is better sending off for jet hot coating or just some header wraps?

I have header wraps on my XB9SX same wrap for about 3 years now. What I've heard about the pluses is, heat reduction coming off of the headers and about a 1% horsepower increase. when it rains they steam up pretty good! K

I've got both, coated them approx. six years ago then decided to wrap them last winter. It really depends on the look you're trying to achieve. You can get the jet hot in black and silver and a couple other colors if I remember correctly from thumbing through my Eastwood catalog. It's cleaner and much more aesthetic. On the other hand wrapping looks more streetfighter and racy plus you can paint it with bbq paint and keep it fresh looking. I didn't really notice a difference in Buell leg from the coating but I can from the wrapping.

And don't worry about the wrap smoking at initial startup, that's common.

You will get very little decrease in header temperature ...

"BUT" what you really get is the reverse of a BLOWER ...

The EXHAUST GAS'ES move through the HEADER "QUICKER" helping pull the intake charge into the combustion chamber ...

The COATING,inside and outside is the best way to go and is more expensive ...

Have been running the EXHAUST WRAP for years now and paint mine "RED" ...
