Butch, she looks a lot better on her feet. It looks like you cut down the leg fairings or whatever they are called. Nice mod. Also how did you polish your exhaust? Frank |

The rebuild begins. I started just like any other one. Strip the body work and wash the bike. I wash it because I notice more things that way and also it was pretty dirty with caked on oil and road grime. I also noticed the shift level had been bent as well as the brake lever and the oil bag may have a crack in it. She really does not need a lot, fork seals, cables, speedo, maybe a new oil bag, tires. I always replace neck and wheel bearings and the main shaft seal. I think the most expensive thing will be getting the body work repainted in its original glory. The best part is taking a tiered dirty bike and turning her a fully functional and beautiful machine again. A couple of things attracted me to this bike. It was original to include the exhaust. The stock exhaust on these is a great work of engineering and it had been ridden. About 20K miles. Not too much but at least not sitting for years. Plus these gorgeous machines are dirt cheap. Number 35 looks great naked!

Frank, Your girl looks good nekkid! I can't wait to see her when your done... For those interested in the Aaron bend kickstand mod:
It works real well, and only takes up one parking spot also. For those curious, the pics were taken along the Blue Ridge Parkway during my "round the country" ride back in '06. Bart |

I've ridden mine naked before... The bike was nude, not me LOL. It looked like frank's but had the tank on (no cover) and a sportster seat sitting on the frame rails. I never went too far (no rear lights), but I was interesting. |

Frank, Great pictures from homecoming! The night shot of the three of them is GREAT! Can you send me a full res version of both of those shots? They need to be wallpaper and also go on my garage wall. Very much appreciated. Brad |

Frank - if you need it, I still have Tony's (Thunderstruck) email with the link to his webpage, containing the original pics. Man, I'm jealous of you guys with Ice White S2's... |

I have the email with the original pic and will forward to Brad when he sends me his email. I really like the white as well. The 96 S2T is still my favorite but riding the 95 with the lower handle bars and higher foot pegs is a blast. I need to run down a couple of leads of people that can repaint the bodywork. It needs a little love and I really want it to be as close to the original color as possible. I wish I had the skill to do it myself. I am waiting on the decals and still need to clean the grime off the bodywork. That maybe a winter project. |

Well, it doesn't help much what with you being in Colorado, but a local guy here who's done a lot of work for me personally can do a dead-on match for Ice White Pearl, with as much or as little of the pearl as you prefer, or totally stock. I'm going to have him do my 'spare' S1W tank with some ghosted-in graphics (flames, tribal, dunno yet), made from only an extra coat of the pearl. Very subtle is my goal. If you want to bring your stuff out, you can ride my Uly home as long as you promise to bring it back |

Frank, I went through the paint thing too. Notice the front fender on my blue S2? It was painted 3 days before homecoming. It is s PERFECT match. I learned a very valuable lesson. Let the pro's do what they do best. I was fortunate to know a really good shooter. It would have taken me MANY hours and lots of trial and error to get even close. I'm hanging up my paint gun and letting the pro's handle my stuff from now on. Cheaper and better in the long run. |

I am with you on that Brad, my brother is a real good painter and artist but those talents did not rub off on me. I have a line on a guy that does painting for a lot of the Factory Five Cobras in this area. Since the body work on those is fiberglass he should have a clue. It is either that or find a Corvette paint place. Either way, I will not be doing it.... |

I think we need an S2 gathering somewhere. All possible S2's coming together. Maybe we put a push for this at the next Homecoming? REX |
