I started asking this in another thread, thought I'd break it out into it's own to get more attention. I'm trying to understand how much of the 297 watts available are being used by the bike, and whats left over for my heated gear. This is all I could find: Headlight 60 Taillight 21 Turn Signal Lamps, Front and Rear 10 High Beam Indicator 2.1 Turn Signal Indicator 2.1 Oil Pressure Indicator 2.1 Neutral Indicator 2.1 Speedo Illumination 1.7 Tach Illumination 1.7 Low Fuel Lamp 1.7 Check Engine Lamp 1.7 So 297 - 112.5 = 184 left So what am I missing? Don't know much about this, does it just not work this way? |

How have you established the available current? Watts rating of accessories is not the same as the current required to operate them. You need to look up Watt's law and Ohm's law. The power output varies based on charging system health, heat, RPM, etc. |

See, I told you I didn't know much about it... based on comments here and in the other thread... consider this topic closed. The S3T's older charging system is inadequate for my winter riding gerbing heated clothing needs, I will have to stick to my CityX. A little 30 degree, 80 mph wind blast, never hurt anyone. |

My brother has been able to run on his S3 an electric jacket and an electric vest at the same time riding two up long distances, if that is of any help. Christian |

"The S3T's older charging system is inadequate for my winter riding gerbing heated clothing needs, " What is the issue when you do that? |

I actually haven't had the opportunity to try it on my bike yet... but another member complained of the check engine warning light coming on related to gerbings jacket and gloves combo. I now realize there are many factors involved though. What Christian states above might refute that... and gives me a bit of hope, since a vest takes more watts than gloves. I'll find out soon enough as the temp drops. |
