Don't joke, my next bike might be a stock '98 S1W. |

I'm not joking. You could probably talk him down some more too...a couple of bubbles on the tank, and his front rotor needs replacing (well, just the little spacer thingies (forgive me for lack of brain activity this morning). |

Hi Brinnutz, Call you buddy and let me know what kind of price he has on his S1W and what condition and miles its in. I'm pretty sure I'm going to Buffalo. I've talked to the guy a couple of times on the phone and he seems like a stand up, straight forward guy. Either way, I'll email ya my cell phone and show ya my S1 on my way home! |

It's in pretty good shape...I'd buy it. 11,600 miles he just said. There is some discoloring on the frame from where fuel leaked out when it sat in the previous owners garage for...well, a long time. Tires are good, newer battery, rear pads. Paint has some slight bubbling around gas cap (it's not too bad). Front rotor carrier bolts are shot though. $4000. Let me know. I get a 24pk of BudLight bottles if anyone buys it from him..Then, I guess you guys should buy me a case too. =) LOL If you're serious, pm me and I'll give you his number. Haunted, be happy to see the S1. Let me know a time, I work evenings, and have drill this weekend so I'll be in Chicago all weekend at the base in Great Lakes, IL. |

Here's the link to the S1 at Illinois Harley...LINK. I saw this bike last week while in IL. A VERY clean bike. But be mindful that there WILL be problems with a 12 year old bike that has that few miles. If it were me, I'd have all the gaskets and isolators replaced immediately. But it's still a sweet bike. Also don't expect to wheel & deal at that price. They don't have any wiggle room. |

Thats the one I was first thinking of buying Lake! It is in great shape but a few other things need to be addressed before its pristine. It needs to have all the recalls done, needs to have the front turn signals replaces (there was cracking around the mounting on both of them), needs to have the engine painted (there is a chunk that has peeled up) and it has the usual paint cracking around the seat that I've read about on here. I have to disagree with you. When you think about it, they should have plenty of room to move on it but they won't and who can blame them? They are a savvy dealer and am sure they gave the previous owner a minimal trade in saying they couldn't give him more given the amount of work they would need to put into it in its previous condition. They say they put in another grand into it and I believe them (what with tires, gaskets, filters, fluids, cleaning and tuning) My guess is they have 2 grand into the bike and they should get a nice profit margin on the bike since, even for dealers, I doubt they see bikes like that come in that old but in that condition. They deserve to get a good price, its one of the perks of dealership! |
