I've ridden both bikes, The XB12 is a little bit faster than the old tubers. The XB9 is a bit slower than the X1's. I prefer the tubers for the look tho, but IMHO both bikes are fantastic. |

The XB12 is a little bit faster than the old tubers I have a XB12R and a few tubers. My S1W is much faster off the line than the XB12R. My seat of the pants approach tells me the S1W will beat the XB12R up to around 80MPH in a straight line. I am not a good rider but feel the XB12R is more capable in the twisties but I can throw the S1W around a lot better. I am faster on the S1W. In capable hands I am sure the XB12R will be better in the twisties. Frank |

An X1W should be mechanically the same as any X1 of the same year. S1's were the only model which actually offered a performance upgrade with the "W" package. (thunderstorm heads instead of lightning) I've never ridden a stock X1 as mine already had race ECM installed when I bought it, but it feels faster than all of the stock XBs I've ridden. No doubt any XB can outhandle an X1 in the twisties. They have a 2" shorter shorter wheelbase and are at least 40 pounds lighter! X1 has WAAAAY more character though, and would attract more attention |

I've ridden both, my X1 and my friends XB12S, similar riding position but the XB is smoother , not as viceral. The X1 is not as stable feeling when you pull it down hard into a corner. When you ride them both after each other you can really feel the chassis flex in the tuber diving into and pulling up out of a HARD corner. I think the tuber takes more faith, but OMG aint it a cool ride! |

I once bought a 06 XB12R that had been dropped and dented the underside of the perimiter frame(just a 1/4 inch dimple)so the insurance company totaled it! I paid about 2800 and traded it for the 00X1 that is the soul of my project bike. It was toooo fast, and felt wierd...but very fast! |
