You save the Eprom file Text in the Eprom Folder ECMspy and then open it from the software ECMspy and load it to the bike "You have to load the file text only", not file EPR. Very Important: Remember, always after of load it you must to make a TPS reset. Good luck! |

well thanks for the info....but.......BUELLISTICX1 what you said #1 does nothing to further the thread... #2 makes no sense in that we know how to load and save we are looking for maps from another ecm. #3 thanks for wishing us luck.... |

I have a race ECM, but have never needed to use ecmspy. Someone tell me a good place to get my hands on a cable and I'll get the race map to you. |

I see you are working with the Eprom race I sent you a few days ago. Well, what I can say to you is that I have two Buell ECM, Race and USA stock, I loaded the Eprom Race to ECM stock with no problems, currently I'm running with an USA ECM with the Eprom Race loaded in and it's working very well, with no problems as I said. I have sent a lot of Eprom Race to guys of your country and they never had any problem and they to were very grateful with me. Anything is wrong, I don't know......... If you want I can send other one. Regards. (Message edited by buellisticx1 on September 17, 2008) (Message edited by buellisticx1 on September 17, 2008) |

wait......buellisticx1 did not say i was not grateful... #2 tried loading eeprom you sent will not start, tried loading the maps on the eeprom but not the eeprom, starts but only idles and pops thinking maybe its cause there might be a difference in the eeproms but maybe i am wrong, and i am sorry if my earlier reply was misunderstood it was not a shot at you you just confused me with what you said... i am very grateful for any assistance i get on here.... buellisticx1 i do have a tendency to come across rude in text sorry for that....guess i should try and sound....nicer (Message edited by bald_bueller on September 17, 2008) |

I am sure there are quite a few of us here with stock ECM and in need of the maps for the Race ECM. I have no doubt my bike (with V&H and high flow air filter) will run much better with a Race ECM but I am in a bit of $ crunch (who is not?) and can't spend the $250 to get one. Just being honest. |

Warning! There are 2 generations of Race ECM the later ones are built from newer parts and there may be issues. I have the older one I believe and have copied the prom I will try to get the files out this weekend pm me with your addy if you want it, BTW if the bike starts look at the table values and the TPS / AFV |

Oldog, what you said then begs the question as how would one know if one has the "later ones" or not? I am really keeping my fingers crossed that your '01 and my '00 X1 share the same ECM...Please say yes... |

Are there any legal issues with sharing buell fuel maps? I would assume not as long as the ecms are no longer produced by buell. Any way to tell if a race ecm is old/new from the s/n ? |

Pkforbes87, take a look at Knowledge Vault (tech, parts, apparel, & accessories topics) ยป Manuals, Alerts, Tech Bulletins, Upgrades & Recalls, there is a Service Bulletin B-017 May 6, 1999 about early DDFI ECM http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/B017-263564.pdf Bald_bueller said:tried loading the maps on the eeprom but not the eeprom, starts but only idles and pops; This are exactly what happening when only you try load the fuel maps and ignition curves on the eeprom X1 but not the eeprom. This only happening with X1 ECM and not with XB. If only load the fuel maps and ignition curves during the burning maps to ECM the transmission cut out and it says "transmission timed out" , but only if you load the eeprom everything will run well. Try loading the eeprom only. sorry for me english. Regards. |

buellisticx1 you are a bountiful mountain of knowledge!!! so i warm up the bike to operating temp, load eeprom, cycle ignition switch, then reset the tps, then reset the afv to 100%, cycle switch again, attempt to start, set idle , rip it like i stole it |

I don't quite understand the "cycle ignition switch" step. I assume you mean you turn the bike off and restart it again..Right? Sorry, I am just getting ready to play with the software and want to make sure I am not missing any of the critical steps. Thanks. |

The cable I got off of ebay had an X1 map from 2000 that is the race ECM prom I am told from the seller. I took the plunge today. I had saved the old prom away and such so I loaded the one from the CD I got according to what has been discussed here and so far all I can say is wow. I think I am going to like this. Runs much better from the little I have got to ride on it. Plugs look dandy so far so good. |

wow, I got three emails today with eeproms attached. I love this tight knit community! Thanks guys. Oh and yes I know my way around the ecmspy. Its like a pirate (kinda) version of the digital tech the dealerships have that only dealerships can carry. If only this worked on Harley Delphi systems..... |

Just to address a previous question, yes it is illegal. If the Race ECM is discontinued, then its a bit of a legal gray area. |

Correction Frog, it's only illegal if sold, not if given. |

Selling or giving is irrelevant I believe that the content of the eeprom is copywriteable or is copy write protected, as it constitutes "intelectual property" On another note we are technicaly tampering with part of the fuel system and there are emissions regs that prohibit that The tubers are no longer produced so I have doubts about any repercusions provided money is not changing hands, reselling the XB eeprom might bring down the mother ships' wrath YMMV... |
