Yes! I'm starting with a set of dirt bike bars and a pair of Michelin Anakees. I want to use my X1 to explore all the old dirt roads around here. It seems to be very stable off the pavement. |

Probably would make a decent advent bike. I'd be leery of too much off road antics as the frame may not be up to the task of any type of jump. If anything a bit heavy. |

The only thing i would do would be to get rid of the under frame shock and put a high mount exhaust to keep from getting hung up. |

On anything but the smoothest roads, I don't think a tuber would be much fun, especially if the roads were rutted. But I have to ride a few miles of red clay roads to get to a friend of mine's house. The roads are perfectly graded and smooth. Feet up 60mph slides are pretty easy and fun... I've scared myself a few times though. I was just there yesterday. |

"I'd be leery of too much off road antics as the frame may not be up to the task of any type of jump." The frame should be fine, no problem... but the rear shock mount could rip out of the engine case with rough use. That's a pretty catastrophic failure because it destroys the engine and rear suspension at the same time. http://www.bikernet.com/buell/buellarch.asp?Article=102400 I always wondered if Buell went to a shorter shock in 2001 so they could revise the shock mount that bolts to the cases. The bent 'banana' shaped mount for the shorter 14.6" shock looks like it distributes pulling loads across the cases better. (Message edited by djkaplan on September 15, 2008) |

Finally put on the anakees: I also replaced the X1 fender with one from a Uly, and got rid of the tach. It's a blast on dirt roads! |
