Ok so I got the ECM Spy and cable. I have done the first few steps for safe backup and got as far as setting the TPS and AFV. I think it made a world of difference already but have not had enough time to ride to know for sure. Just took it on a little hop down the road and back. Actually had a lesson or two doing it. Quickly realized that the bike has to be off to do the TPS reset LOL. Oh well lessons learned. Now If the bike runs as well as it seems to I may not do much more. I am going to lift it up and do the diagnostic checks for it talks about in the book. I had no codes so that was good news. I only see one fuel map in the CD I got for the X1. It didn't say anything about it being a race ECM map or anything. Like I said it seems to run well and I might just leave it alone for a while and enjoy the new bike. No problems to report yet. I will watch it close and keep checking to make sure I didn't mess anything up. Those with more experience feel free to chime in on what you do with the software. I like the functions of the software so far. |

I am one step behind you as I am just getting the cable, etc. You said something about a CD for X1 (the same bike I have) with the fuel map. Where did you get that from? |

I purchased my cable on ebay from a seller there that was nice enough to package up all the software and drivers for the cable on to a CD so it doesn't have to be found and downloaded on line. I thought that was the way to go since I had slow internet speed. It had several fuel maps enclosed and one of those was listed as being for the X1. I am just not certain what it is. If it is a stock map or a race setup. I know when I did the basic couple of things it has made a difference in the bike for sure already. Of course I had to learn as I went about when the bike should be running and when it should be off with the key in the on position. I also messed around and ran myself out of fuel on the drive in to work this morning due to time spent messing with it. It mentions that in the manuals to watch your fuel. Of course the bike has a fuel light on it but that must not be working on mine. Another note to self. Fuel light not working. Then my buddy with the BMW in here tells me how his tells him how much fuel he has and how far he can drive and if it runs out of fuel they will beam you up to the mother ship and take you to the nearest fuel station bla bla bla..... |

I just purchased a cable and CD from ebay as well. I think the cable is a great investment in time, service savings and education. Can't wait to view my Buell's soul. |

"Can't wait to view my Buell's soul" Same here. I ordered mine from Al at American Sport Bike..It should be on a UPS truck heading my way as we speak...And Mrsinister was super kind to help me with the CD/programs... By the way, there is also a tremendous amount of ECMSPY knowledge and expertise available on the "other" Buell forum (Buelletinboard). I think they even have a comprehensive sticky on the subject. (I hope I am not breaking any rules by making referrals to other Buell forums). |
