Well to make a long story short, if anyone has been on the Quickboard you know I was planning on taking a three day trip this past weekend but "lost" the X1 in NC. I haven't done anything to diagnose the problem yet but I'm leaning on a chewed up oil pump drive gear. I never got the first check engine light, or help from the first biker on the Blue Ridge. Once I tear it apart and find out what it is I'll take pics and post 'em up. I had to tear it down to do the rear base gasket anyway so now is a good opportunity to do some mild modification. Of course the oil pump drive gear will get done and probably some cams and the XB rocker boxes. Maybe even some adjustable push rods, haven't finished all my research yet but I've got all winter to do that as I'm out for the rest of the year. I'm hoping to get the rwhp to somewhere between 90 and 100. It's at 85 now so it shouldn't take much. See you all in the spring. |

GOOD LUCK BROTHER!!! It's a shame you have to miss the next few months of fall riding. PS Don't go too crazy with the cams! You don't want too kill that torque curve. Lift GOOD!!! Duration BAD!!! |

Thanks, I was just saying today that I wish there was a laundry list out there that said "this is what you need to do what you want to do" list. I realize the X1 cams are the hottest factory cams available from Buell but I'd like just a little more, nothing big, just one step up maybe. I'm still doing LOTS of research on the net and making my own list for future generations who seek the enlightenment of the sexiest tuber ever made. I'll probably put this in a separate thread also but does anyone use or ever used a plunger style starter button mounted directly to the starter? I like the way they look and since tubers have problems with the ignition wiring anyway I'd get rid of that gremlin. |
