Hey guys got a question for ya...looking to upgrade from my stock exhaust. What would be the best pref. and sound wise? The bike is stock except for k&n filter, have ECM spy but am waiting to use it till after exhaust change. Is the Buell factory race exhaust still aval. somewhere as i've heard its pretty good...looking for a good sound and pref. gain. Thanks guys!!!! |

here's one, but it came off an M2, so you would have to have bungs welded into it for the O2 sensors. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem =&item=220277756023&rd=1 You can also look around for a Force pipe (my personal favorite) for an X1. They have the best performance, but some have had many problems with cracking. I personally haven't yet though. |

Overall, the D&D System, is great... Had mine for almost 3 years... it is ceramic coated inside and out... Not too loud, sounds GREAT, and feels better than the Buell Race header... The force is nice... but, as mentioned, there have been more than a few issues with cracking... Hope that helps... Chase |

Happen to have a Force in excellent condition for an X1. NO cracks and is ceramic coated silver. Fuel injected version with bung. Interested? PM ME. |

My X1 has a Wileyco 2" that barks compared to my S3T's 2-1/2" Buell pro series GROWL, they both sound nice and are not obnoxious. My 88 year old mother the other day said "your blue scooter can wake the dead". |

IMO the supertrapp is the best ...it's a little pricey but still the best, and it's adjustable! Hey Chase, don't forget I've still got my force megaphone drag pipe,VERY LOUD, but very free flowing. Oh and did I say It'only 50 bucks? I won't advertise any of my stuff on this site but if I hear of someone looking I'll respond. BTW your getting pretty short aren't you? |

I am looking to upgrade from the Stock exhaust as well. Havent heard how the Wiley sounds, the V&H SS2r sounds good, and I love the deep rumble of the D&D slip on. Thought about the force, but since it is a complete system, I would have to get dynoed which can get expensive around here. I am eventually going to get ECMSpy and a cable, but am sort of afraid to do anything with it, as I really know nothing about it. Help and direction is greatly appreciated. |

David, you are really flying blind without VDSTS or ECM Spy, the latter of which is more inclined to re-write many of the parameters of the ECM(getting you into deep manure) I preffer VDSTS, while it is more expensive(ECM Spy is a free download), It is a safer tool for you to diagnose problems and codes. If your not literate in fuel mapping and engine tuning on a dyno, then learn to walk before you bolt out of the blocks at a dead run. |

Jstfrfun, Dude, beleive me, I am not trying to run anywhere. Not Hi-jacking here. I havent heard much about VDSTS, does this use the same cable as ECM Spy? Back on topic. I want a pipe that makes my bike sound like it should, Harley engines should have some sort of Harley sound as far as I am concerned. I just dont want it sounding like a ricer. |

I've run the V&H, and the D&D. The V&H is aluminum construction and started sounding (my opinion) after about 5k miles. There are repack kits out there for the V&H so I'm assuming it needs repacked at regular intervals. Wouldn't know, because that's when I swapped it for a D&D. The D&D is steel construction, so mine is rusting from the way it was painted from D&D. Different exhaust coatings can prevent that even on the steel muffler. As far as sound.. the D&D is louder at idle, I think the V&H was louder at power though. D&D sounds higher quality, the V&H was too "tinny" for my taste. Never had any legal problems with the D&D volume either. |

"...the V&H was too "tinny" for my taste." The aluminum construction does seem to influence the sound. At full song, my V&H has a higher pitched bark compared to steel mufflers out there. I must be the on guy who runs an aftermarket muffler strictly for the weight savings and not the 'loud' factor. If anything, I'd like my bike to be a bit quieter. |
