Over time I'v got little bits of information about the Logo badges on the tanks of the various models. I still don't know if these are stickers or are painted on, you see it looks to me to be all the same, what I'm trying to say is that to my way of thinking, the sticker would have some sort of border if applied on a painted tank, but mine seems smooth right up to the raised lettering. If you get the sticker off (HOW) does the tank have paint were the sticker was? I'm sorry, I'm pleading Blond here......Enlighten me please. Bottom line is I want to repaint the tank, but need to remove the stickers to get a smoothe paintable surface. What am I missing? ........duh in advance......Rich |

If its still the original tank on your 98, they would be the flush stickers. In later years they went with the raised letters. Ive never removed the flush stickers, maybe a heat gun would help? |

heat gun, with fishing line maybe? I've got an extra tank I'll be painting this winter, so that's how I plan on it. |

They are most likely stickers. Check your Buell dealer for new ones. I got new front fairing and tail stickers for my M2 for about $5 each. They had raised lettering for the tank at about $30. |

Another quick question on this topic. Any suggestions on the best adhesive to reattach the raised lettering on the tank? |

On my 98 M2 the original emblems are stickers, and they are applied over the paint. But there is a clearcoat over the stickers on mine from the factory. So no removing the stickers without a repaint |

On my 96 S1 I removed the clear coated over stickers by lifting up a corner with an exacto knife and peeling off one by one. I then used a combination of wd 40 and brake cleaner to remove the sticky adhesive left behind. You will need patience, patience and more patience. What I have now is a cool effect of Buell counter sunk into the finish. Anyway, yes, they can be removed. |

Longperf has the closest discription of my stickers, and Guell pointed out about the raised stickes arangement. I believe I have the raised with a clearcoat, because I do infact have raised leters, but the finish is smooth all the way to the leters with no evidence of a rectangular (sticker) applied after painting.....hmmm? My problem is that the clear coat is peeling in the belt buckel area, or rather where the tank slopes down to the seat. Mebe a whole paintjob is in order, I just did'nt know how to go about it, ie. sand over the stickers or heat gun them or...? |

Every sticker Buell (and they are ALL stickers back to the cloth backed ones in 1987) are available from Buell. I have a catalog of every Buell model every made and the graphics that adorned the bike with samples of the stickers. If you are repainting . . sand the old one off and replace it with whatever spins your gyro. Court |

I don't know if it will work, but they sell decal remover (rattle-can) at most auto parts stores. |
