Anyone know how to adjust the air/fuel ratio. Im running super rich. Just put some new plugs in about a week ago and theyre already completely black and sooty. I cant find it anywhere in the manual but im assuming theres just a screw somewhere and i just want to make it a little leaner. Thanks |

IIRC, theres a little drilling involved. Hope this helps... http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hd_cv_mods.htm (Message edited by TORQUEMONSTER on August 29, 2008) |

Yes there is...it just exists below a small layer of metal. lol. Let your bit carry itself. You dont want to jam a spinning drill bit up in there. Good luck. |

You have three choice's: 1) EPA "LEAN" ... 2) Just rich enough to where it runs better ... 3) The BEST you can get performance 12 to 1 fuel air ratio ... The way "i" have my 97S3T set up is: Idle mixture screw out 2 1/2 turns, #48 low speed, slide radius'ed and vac hole drilled out, M2 needle(it is the best OEM needle raised 0.050", a #200 high speed and no accelerator pump(it is only for riders that do not know how to stay on the cams) ... Timing is static timed just coming into the rear of the timing plug hole ... Spark plugs are NKG KR8AI's at 0.030"... Get 44 MPG the way "i" ride ... Jetting set with a FUEL/AIR Gauge ... Have 3 fittings in Header three inches from exhaust port and one in collector so fuel burn can be checked three places ... PRODUCT IMPROVED OEM air box and a PRODUCT IMPROVED OEM Muffler ... If you have a K&N air filter you have to clean them every so often depending on the drive conditions in you area ... If you let you engine idle an pull the plugs out they will be black and sooty ... Try this: run your bike at 70 mph where you can do it for a few miles, hit the kill switch, pull the clutch and coast to a stop and check you plugs ... Bet they will not be black and sooty ... |

Buellistic - "Product Improved OEM Muffler"? Do tell! Also, I have an A/F guage, wideband but just a simple display readout, no fancy data logging. Plan on using a TM-40 on the '02 Cyclone. Thoughts? |

Bernd: Put a same size outlet on right rear of OEM muffler ... The Fuel/AIR "REAL WORLD" carburetor tuning ... |

That could be interesting, Buellistic. I could configure it with a removable end cap. Sometimes I want that extra growl, sometimes not, and it would be cool to compare A/F ratio with cap on and off. |

If you're running 'super rich', it sounds like someone's already been in the carburetor. They came calibrated 'super lean' from the factory. I'm running a #45 pilot (#200 main), .022 shim on the stock M2 needle and 2 1/2 turns on the idle mixture screw... this is at a 600ft elevation in the southeast (Georgia) on my stock cammed 2000 M2. |
