I am in Weatherford, OK, 200 miles from home, 80 miles from a Harley dealer (NOT a Buell dealer), and my drive belt snapped. My dad is going to send me the belt off my '03 sportster, and I think I can find a friend here local that will help me access a shop and tools. I just need some directions, tricks of the trade, and pics of special tools that would expediate the install. My friend Chris of Ireland made a tool to separate the frame from the swingarm enough to pull out a bushing? to slide the belt in I believe is how he put it, but I dunno where I would apply such a tool. All my technical know-how is mostly for sportsters. |

Almost as easy as a Sporty, you will have to remove the side plate (on the drive side) and the plastic front sprocket cover. It is pretty straight forward. The S2 is the easiest, next to my XB, to change the belt on. I don't know if anyone else has had problems with the bolts holding on the side plate but I used heat the last time I did it.
