I'm sure this info is already out there, but I am going to ask anyhow. I recently aquired a V&H muffler for my 95 S2. I was wondering if I needed to rejet the carb if I change over. I ask because I remember when I put the V&H on my daughters P3 I had to rejet the bike. Second part of the question is. If I decide that I dont like the V&H for whatever reason. Do I need to go back to the stock jetting when I go back to the stock muffler?

Short answer is yes, and yes. There's enough flow difference between the V&H and the stocker that I'd rejet either way.

My S1W has a V&H on it, and I rejetted with (I think) a 45/190 combo in the stock carb, with the S2 style CF high-flow aircleaner.

When in doubt: ride, check plugs, decide.

Thanks for the info. I have to say that the bike runs totally in different and I mean in a good way since I put the V&H on it. Midrange power is the biggest change. I got the V&H SS2R from the bikes original owner who said he had installed it and ran it for a couple of weeks and then took it off because he felt it too noisy. I am leaning towards thinking that he might have rejetted the bike already and never put the old jets back in when he went back to the OEM muffler.

Put fresh plugs in, and run it for about 20 miles in whichever setup you think you're going to keep. Then pull the plugs and read them, see how they look. Too white, stock jets (lean) (if you check with the V&H). Silver-gray to dark gray, probably OK. Black, too rich. Also pay attention to decel noises - if you get a ton of popping when you shut the throttle and coast down, it's too lean. You should get a smooth decel with the right jets. Also, if you have to pull the carb, use a little motor oil (just dip your finger and give it a schmear) on the boot where the carb slides into the intake, it keeps the carb from catching and ripping it or pulling it tight and causing a leak.
