It's probably been discussed, but what do you recommend. I run a Simota C.F. ram air. The performance over 80 or so is great, but I'm tired of looking at it sticking off my bike. Any suggestions? |

Best intake for an M2 ??? My question is is the intake for show or go ??? The next question is what RPM range do want to run in or should "i" ask what do you plan to do with the engine ??? |

Tell me about it Guell. I love the performance and it does look good but it's giant. The intake is for go but I need to be able to live with the looks of it also. Mostly stock with .048 slow and .195 main jets, Wileyco pipe,Pro-series module. (Message edited by pitbuell_ma on August 22, 2008) (Message edited by pitbuell_ma on August 22, 2008) |

i just checked it out, it looks good. have you looked at the airtech one? it's shaped to fit within the tubes and might even be ram air. |

Yeah, ive seen that, i liked the way it looks. I have to stick with my hbbi for the time being until i finish the inverted swap. Ive thought about cutting down the tube to bring it into the bike more. |

I've thought about doing that too. If you can get the angle just right it could work. Cut too much off and the pipe dia. will end up too big though. Inverted's work well with M2's. I just scored an XB oil cooler to fit on mine, should help cool the beast down a little. |

I ended up going for a NRHS carbon fiber intake. It has a 3" K&N filter and flows with the lines of the bike better than the American Sport Bike version. It wasn't cheap but is well worth it. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how. |

I guess its a matter of taste, but I like mine. It looks better than the breadbox to me and makes good power. Just about every one who looks at my bike comments on it...yeah, some positive, some negative....see my opening statement..

I've only nailed my knee on it once or twice and that was when I was goofing around. Other than that couldn't be any happier with it. { (Message edited by cbm2 on September 09, 2008) |

The only thing I can fault about the HBBI, and to a lesser degree the Forcewinder, is the susceptibility to damage in a lowside. I crushed one of the K&Ns I had on my Forcewinder... but I imaginge any filter could be damaged if you tried hard enough. |

The thing I found with the carbon ham can is the filter dosen't seal very well, due to the cover not being very rigid. I've just got a forcewinder, this quietens the engine noise a fair bit, and I can't say the performance is any different. I don't feel any filter will stand up too a lay down, they will all squash, least the ones I have seen have.

Can't say it's the best, but I like it. Think I paid $140 on eBay, Shoo

Yeah Mick, you might be right. The carbon is pretty flexable and you have to be carefull about not over tightening. I don't think filtration is compromised though. I have noticed better all around throttle response with the NRHS. Last December I did the classic 0 MPH lowside and the stock bread box saved my paint at that moment it was truly "the best intake for an M2". I still haven't been able to upload pics... |
