I recently pulled my cyclone out of storage- had been there due to some pretty long deployments, and started to get her ready to go. When it was last run, about a year and a half ago, it was fine; I replaced all fluids, battery, and verified everything ready to go prior to attempting to fire her up, but I get nothing. It seems that I am only getting power to the solenoids and the turn signals- headlamp isn't even energizing. The last factor is that it was shipped from Hawaii to Pittsburgh via military contract mover- it probably got banged around a bit. Before I start learning how to be an electrician, anyone have any suggestions? |

Look at the easiest things first. Take a copper brush and clean the battery terminals, remove the battery cables and clean both sides and make sure you tighten them properly. Then do the same with the ground strap. I used a little dielectric grease on the contacts, and it worked like a charm. |

Wwillco, thanks for the service! Now back to your problem. My bike did the same exact thing! If you look at the positive battery cable going to the starter solenoid you will see a smaller wire coming of the same solenoid post. This wire breaks right under the plastic covering! It is very thin and is in a crappy place. Either cut back the insulation and try a jumper wire to the pos. batt. or (what I did) wiggle the wire until it breaks free and attach it directly to the batt. post. |

Can you get it started from a rolling/push start? From sitting that long, the battery is probably dead and just needs a charging (hoping that's all it is!). |

Thanks for the help yall, and thanks Hugie- Well, I cleaned the battery cable, and was about to re-install when work called and I had to roll, heh. I do know that the battery is working- the battery tender gives it the go-ahead. I was able to do all of 15 minutes of work on it before the good 'ol Navy canceled my day off, but I hope that I will be able to hit it up again tomorrow with a bit more success. |

Make sure you load test your battery! Sometimes a battery will show full charge but when you try to start it will do nothing. |

Any MC shop or even Autozone, can do the test..and the best thing it's Free! |

Well, couldn't find the electrical bug, so I put in a new wiring harness. Got her to run for a few minutes, then she shut down on me. Haven't run it in so long, I think I flooded it out. Thanks for all the help yall, I appreciate all the inputs. If I can't get it to stay running, I might have problem number 2 to discuss, heh. |

Hmm- it turns out when you don't put enough fuel into the tank before starting it up, and don't set it to reserve, the bike doesn't like to stay running. I pulled my head out, heard a resounding pop, and filled her up. Runs like a charm- forgot how frickin loud it is. |

LOL! One day I was trying to start my bike for about 10 minutes and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it to run. It was early spring and the battery was fine. I then remembered to pull out the choke. The bike started right up then. |

Hi, i have a different questionm... the battery in my m2 is flat and i want to charge it, but i can't see any markings on the battery regarding the + and - terminales. The only thing i noticed was the cable on the left (sitting on the bike) has a red bandage on it - so this makes me think it's a positive + . is this the case , left is +, right is - (sitting on the bike) thx for info |

The negative cable chases up to bolt to the frame. The positive goes down to the space forward of the battery and bolts in down there. Chase the cables, and you will have your positive and negative. |
