I will have to replace the rear tire on my S-1 before I can get it inspected. I checked online for a new Dunlop 207 but can't seem to find any. Can I use the Dunlop Qualifier on the rear and still run the 207 on the front? Should I go with the stock 170 or go to a 180 or 190? I will replace the front this winter but can't swing getting both now. |

You can mix tires, but you have to be careful at limits because they will respond differently than a matched set. I ran a 207 rear with a 205 front for a while and didn't notice anything too squirrly. There is no benfit mounting a tire on a wheel too narrow for it. Run the tire size recommended by the tire manufacturer for the rim width you have... if you have the three spoke cast wheels, it's 5" wide, if you have PM wheels, it's 5 1/2" wide. I believe Dunlop recommends a 170/60 for a 5" wide wheel, and 180/55 for a 5 1/2" wide wheel. |
