I don't know if anyone has put a X1 front brake on a S2 but figured I would ask. I have not measured but the X1 brake looks a little bigger in width but the mounting bolts look like the line up. I am still having problems with the S2 front brake after doing a rebuild. I was unable to locate the pistons anywhere so I had the use the old ones that are nicked up a bit, since I have a spare brake off of a X1 (or S1, not sure) I though I would try it until I could locate the pistons for the S2 front brake. Any advice?.... Thanks, Frank |

BB, I may just try it this week, if I have time, just to make sure it will work properly. When I was at Homecoming the front brake started pulsing real bad and I initially thought it was a warped rotor. I ordered an aftermarket rotor and caliper rebuild kit from American Sport Bike. When rebuilding the caliper I noticed that some of the pistons were stuck so figured that was the problem. When trying to get the pistons out I nicked a couple of them so I took it to a shop to get the pistons out and then I did the rebuild. The good news is now it does not pulse but now it makes an awful shaking noise similar to a worn stock rotor. I checked everything and it looks like one of the pads is rattling. I know I should have replaced the pads at the same time but forgot to order them and these only had about 1000 miles on them. So I was going to order new pads and while comparing the front brakes of the S1 and S2 I thought, hey I have an extra caliper from a (X1). I liked the way the clip holds the pads in place on that setup so that is were I am at right now. Regardless of what I do I need to order new pads and I will post results. Frank |

It'll bolt up; same mounting holes I know. I dunno if you'll need to adjust the spacing but I don't think so. The primer black S2 dragbike that sold here a few weeks ago had the later caliper on it, and my S2 has the later Nissin rotor but still has a PM caliper on it, so I am VERY inclined to believe it's a direct swap. |

Tuber brakes is tuber brakes. It should all bolt right up I recently did the same on my S2 (last winter) and PM pistons are still available new, got 'em at work. I forget if they were packaged in PM or Buell packaging, though. Rotor bolts right up, I run (as you saw) an EBC on mine and its application is listed IIRC as 95-01 Buell. You can also still get new drive buttons and washers for stock S2 rotors - need some? Got a bag somewhere... |
