I'm putting together an S1 from a rolling chassis and I'm stuck on the wiring harness. I've got everything identified except for this socket:

It comes out of the harness under the fuel tank. I've looked at the service manual wiring diagrams for the '96 and '97 S1's but can't find this one on either diagram. The wires are red, black and blue with a white stripe.

I'm not 100% certain that what I have is an S1 harness; the roller is kind of a Franken-Buell. Can anybody help me identify this plug?

Here's the project as it sits right now:

Thanks!

Nice! But I don't thing that piston in the lower left hand corner beneath the wheel is going to fit in those jugs.

(Looks like something Capt Pete would have laying around as a spare...)

maybe you have a later Fuel Injected harness and that could be the plug for the fuel pump that would be inside the tank?

looks like the clock plug on my S3, May maybe Buell has it on all the harnesses to cut manufacturing cost? or maybe for the head light?

Thanks, guys! It's definitely not the headlight plug, I found that one and it matched the FSM wiring diagrams. I'm liking Billet's idea, and the clock plug idea also sounds possible--anybody got a wiring diagram for an FI bike or a clock-equiped model?

This is the real beauty of Badweb--tapping into the collective experience and intelligence of thousands of "hands-on" owners. Thanks again!

ps to Reepicheep--that's not a piston, that's my version of Court's "milk crate"-a 5 gallon bucket with a padded, ballbearing-equipped seat on top. Also useful for sitting on and keeping your beer cold while you're shooting doves!

Could you get a better shot of it's location on the wiring harness?

Spidey--yeah, but not until this weekend. The bike's out at the ranchito, and I'm in town working. But the wire comes out of the harness under the tank, in the same general area as the VOES wire, the coil wire the horn wire, etc.

Yeah the VOES connector is black, the Fuel pump wire connector is white. Looks like you got a Fuel Injected harness...

Could be. We'll see how it works when I power it up. Except for this one plug, everything matches the wiring diagram in the FSM. Previous owner says he ran the bike, then sold the engine (it was a built drag motor, according to him) so I'm hopeful it'll work OK.

I'm still gathering little bits and pieces that were missing from the roller. You wouldn't happen to have one of those white plastic cable guides that go inside the throttle grip housing laying around, would you?
