does any body know where i can get the model # off of a mikuni carb, or even how to tell it is a mikuni. the dealer tells me it is a mikuni carb, but it was in there for 4 weeks and they say they can't find the correct throttle cable for it. it has one end with a 45 degree bend in it, and the other with a 90 degree bend that goes to the carb. the 90 degree to the carb is what they are having a problem with. can anyone help, or even have any part #'s. it is for a 1996 s2.. thanks |

If you look around, you should be able to find information on the Mikuni "easy kit" for Buells. It contained the carb and the "installation kit" to put it on the bike. The way to tell is, a stock carb has a black cover on top (some replace the black part with chrome), round with four tabs that have the 4 screws that hold the top on. A Mikuni, IIRC, has a square top and a horizontal pivot spring looking thing right there on top. Usually natural aluminum or chrome plated. Here's a stock pic of a Mikuni, off an ebay auction:

Early Mikunis had the cables on the opposite side --had one on my S-2 with the Aerocharger, the later ones came with cables attaching on front side--toward front of bike. Used stock cables. IIRC I used S-2 cables but I changed from a CA model with the Quiksilver carb. |
