Got a '99 S3T. Rear rocker box leaks. Took apart to change gaskets and found the bottom section of the rocker box loose. Retorqued and put new gaskets in. Went for a ride, still leaked. Took apart again. Found the rear exhaust push rod had been hitting the top cover. Yes--it is the right push rod. Changed the rear exhaust lifter. End results are the same--still leaking! HELP!

You're just going to have to wash it off, SPOTLESS clean, and start 'er up and see where the oil is coming from.

Did you actually replace the lower rocker box gasket? (Could be metal or paper) Or did you just tighten the bolts?

If ALL the rocker box bolts were loose enough to loosen the bottom plate, I'm betting the bottom plate is broken.

You're not calling the middle plate the bottom plate are you? (No offense, just checking)

If not broken, there's a good chance the loose plate isn't flat anymore. Put it on a piece of glass next time you have it apart...
