well, apparently the x1 hadn't received enough new parts to fulfill its needs. Today i went to get my M endorsement so i would be legal (i know i know, theres a 4 month wait to take the riding test in las vegas, and the bike was my only transportation) anyways... i moved to IOWA not long ago and the weathers getting nice enough to get the bike out. So i go to the dmv today to take the riding test. test looks simple as heck. but i couldnt take it!!! because apparently my rear brake switch was bad. soo the buell got a new rear brake switch today. And im going back to the dmv tomorrow morning to take the test. adding to the tally of new parts in the last week for the x1.. Intake manifold gaskets race ecm tps reset 2 fuel injectors new tires new plugs new fuel filter oil change and now a rear brake switch.... the list goes on... |

You don't have an M endorsement and bought a Buell? shess get real, you must be part of the younger crowd, get a service manual. Looking at your list I'd call it routine maintenance. Move to Kansas, no inspection, you can get your M endorsement as long as you don't put a foot down, knock all the cones down you want an cross the lines it doesn't matter. I've had a M endorsement since 1972 and for some dumb ass reason forgot to renew it in 2000 when it came due. Went to the DMV and took the test on my BETA TR34R trials bike that is not street legal. The inspector said he didn't care as long as I showed reasonable control of the bike........so when we went out to the parking lot and completed the test course and when I finished I road what today whats called a stoppie for about 60 feet an then set the bike 180 degrees on top of the curb hit the kill switch and took off my helmet and set there balanced and waited for a response and all he said was " you pass cause you didn't put a foot down." oldog- last time it was pmed was about november.tires last july, brakes in october, im know that most the stuff is periodical maintnence, i just made a list of what i did this week. Its not like i couldnt beleive how often the oil and plugs need changed. Im a competant mechanic, it was just joking around about bike maintnence, i guess a failed attempt at humor jramseya. Yea i had no m endorsement and i bought a buell. Soo??? Its not my first bike. I just havent gotten my m endorsment. Yea im a bad person. Im part of the younger crowd, yup. Does this make me unqualified to own a buell? I guess i dont understand your reply, what aare you trying to say???? That im underqualified mechanically to have a buell, that im too new of a rider to have a buell??your post made no sense to me... Explain yourself, Then i will respond further.. All this post is me bitching about replacing soo many parts in a short time. |

Dnchevyman Whoa, don't take every reply to heart, get a thicker skin, besides your riding a Buell not a Kowacrapski,Slowzuki, ect. Any 6 to 9 year old scoot is bound to need some maintenance, just goes with the territory. Besides its not a Maytag or a Toyota. |

You know that your parents told you that you get out of something what you put into it. Still not sure they weren't lying to me. Joe |

My wife reads these threads too so I won't expound on that! I hope that you did not wind up " on the couch " Why I like my bike better than a woman 1. I can ride another bike no problem. 2. I can have more than one bike 3. It's "Nekkid" all of the time. 4. If it leaks its broke, and thats ok I can fix it. 5. If I take a wrench or hammer to it the sherrif does not get involved. 6. If I have gas its ok the bike has "gas" too 7. I "dress" the bike as I want it. 8. I dont have to take it shopping 9. Wheelies don't cause problems 10. It never askes if it's butt looks big |
