I have been researching this thing all afternoon, sounds like a good deal, would allow me to do some easy maintenance work like resetting the TPS, diagnostic, etc. So now I am all set up and ready to go, except for this damn mystery cable! The site showed me how to make the deutch connector end (I already knew how to do that) but where do I connect the other ends of those 3 wires? If ANYONE would be cool enough to post how to assemble the COMPLETE cable or any helpful links, I would be soooo appreciative. Thanks in advance for any help. Nick |

You'll order a USB to RS232 connector. It took me awhile to figure it out too. I ended doing a search on badweb and found a part number on the XB board. |

ECM Spy is a software package that provides the tools to read and clear error codes and reset the throttle position sensor. It also has the capability to re-program your ECM by modifying fuel maps. I haven't tried to re-program, but did read error codes (none recorded) and reset the TPS. I'm running the software on a Windows XP notebook computer. If someone here wants to do their own, here's how to do it. It ended up costing me about $30 for the cable. ECMSpy is a software package developed by Buell enthusiasts in Germany. It's a free download and runs on Windows PCs. http://www.ecmspy.com/ <<Get it here along with tuning instructions. Once you have this, you'll need a way to connect to your FI Buell. I got this info from BadWeb and procured the parts and made the cable. I bought the Deutsch connecter on e-bay. This is the male connector to the Buell diagnostic plug. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&viewitem=&item=250215967535 and the TTL232R USB cable from mouser http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Ntt=*626dlpttl232r*&N=1323038&Ntx=mode%2bmatchall&Ns=P _SField&OriginalKeyword=626-dlp-ttl232r+&Ntk=Mouse r_Wildcards Cut off the 6 pin connector, and attach the Deutch connector. Pinout is: 1-Orange Tx(ECM receive, Rx) 2-Black Gnd 3-Yellow Rx(ECM transmit, Tx) 4-n/c (not connected) You will also need a software driver VCP (Virtual COM Port) Windows XP/2K Drivers (Released 12-12-2005) http://www.dlpdesign.com/ Barry Hollister, CA |
