I was thinking about replacing my stock x1 headlight with this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HEADLIGHT-TWIN-DUAL -SV650-919-STREETFIGHTER-NAKED-BIKE_W0QQcmdZViewIt emQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247QQcategoryZ35598QQ ihZ012QQitemZ220230915150QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V Looks like this guy ( http://www.hillbilly-motors.com/assets/images/Snak ebite1.jpg )is using the same one, I was wondering if this would fit within the stock bracket, it says it is 8.5" in width, does anybody know off hand how wide the stock headlight is? i would much rather use the stock brackets then the plastic ones you can find on ebay. Thanks in advance for any help. |

How wide is the space between the stock bracket?, I was hoping to use that, I just realized that this light is not dot approved might have trouble with inspection, I was think about going with the 4" set at aztec8.com which comes with a 54mm bracket that should work with our bikes, http://aztec8.com/catalog/c7_p1.html sigh... I may just go with the xb9s lights and have somebody fab a bracket or make my own bracket. I messaged spider-man who said he can make one up for me but I'll take him a few weeks since he was a little busy. It will be much easier to mount the xb windscreen if I use the xb light. I'm really not sure what to do here... any suggestions? (Message edited by iznasty on May 13, 2008) |

I have the lights from Aztec8. They are the exact same ones on eBay that you linked to in your first message. They are not DOT approved. The brackets from Aztec8 are really nice black plastic that fit perfectly. I wanted to use them as I don't use a windscreen. I believe you could easily use the stock mount brackets and save a few bucks by buying it without the plastic brackets. |

Danny_h: I'll let you know as soon as I get done with installing the new lights. Oldskoolef: I e-mailed aztec8, it looks like the lights now come with a glass lens and are DOT approved, the brackets are now aluminum also but if I do go with these I will try my luck with the stock buell brackets first. Wardan123: that looks pretty damn nice, what type of light is that? looks like a fog light. I will most likely go with the aztec lights and find another way to mount that xb windscreen (should be to hard right ) |

It is a fog light- it is the one that Mert Lawwill runs on his street tracker. Minus the number plate...
BTW Chasespeed just bought a set of foglights and wired them in for about $20 to make his dual light setup. Check his profile. |

Well, they are driving lights(different light pattern), and they were 60 bucks, but, I went with some stupid crap, angle eyes and strobes inside...but, yes... But, yeah, they would have been cheaper... but... *shrug*.... Looking for something a little different now... Chase |

Mine have glass lenses but don't have any DOT markings on them. They also have small running lights inside them that aren't wired to anything. I guess you could use them as a daytime light if the headlight wasn't required. The bracket that go around the forks are plastic. The brackets that go between those and the light are black painted aluminum. I would like to see the new clamps that Aztec8 has even though mine work just fine. |

I see what your saying, it still looks like the brackets that go around the forks are plastic |
