>>>Was there ever such a thing? There absolutely was. I see them right here in the 1991 Buell accessory catalog. Rarer than hens teeth. You WILL see a pair at Homecoming. |

Oooh...nice. I don't have any catalogs from the pre-S2 era. SUPER-jealous now, LOL. |

Somewhere I have the S-2 "Ready to go on Tour" Touring Catalogs and I'll be damned if I can find them. I've got cases of some and singles of others and I swear that someday before I die I'm going to do a better job of cataloging stuff. |

Get yourself 25 shelves. From the sound of it, make them BIG shelves. One year per shelf We used to do something similar when I worked in the parts dept. of a Jeep dealer - special orders went on one shelf of a seven shelf series - one for each day of the week. Rotate through, and when you hit shelf #4 the second time around, the part has been sitting there for a week and it was a reminder to call the customer to come get their stuff. |

I tried those LARGE plastic storage cases that rubbermaid makes. . . nice try. I think at this point the blame falls on me. Between school and work . . . . it's one of those. . .I'll get to it when I get to it and until then just protect it. Interestingly enough I recently got contacted about taking the whole kit and kabodle off my hands. |

Rat...If you go to the topic above you will see a great pic of Court and Erik standing with a RS with soft bags..... I found it under RS1200 search... Court, I dont need any parts ASAP as I havent got the bike home yet, and will prob find a few more things Id like if available...It would be nice to no I have contact with Tom tho... Do I need to peek in the fuel tank on this bike before venturing off on my ride home adventure? I read a bit about inside flaking etc.... Maybe a couple filters in the bike and pocket would be wise? I am also considering the Homecomin on my station wagon...2002 FLHTC...it might suit the trip better weather wise for me... I also scored a nice used Adventure Jacket and pants the other day...They look suiting for my ride thru the Mountains...Yes?..Comments? Anyhow, keep yer eyes out for those saddlebags for me... |

I have a nice set of an older Fieldsheer model that work perfect. Not those dinky eliptical(sp?) jobs either. Nice square and expandable |

Don't miss the chance to meet Rich at Homecoming. Rich has been doing this since before we could afford the cigars. P.S. - Rich will understand that . .. you will after Homecoming. (Message edited by court on May 05, 2008) |

I don't have any good electronic pics of an RS with the saddlebags. In fact this one, from the first (or was it the second) Homecoming event, was actually scanned from a print pic a few years ago. The 3rd bike from the left (the first red RS) if I'm correct is Rich's RS. You can barely make out the bags (sorry). But the kicker is that, if I'm not mistaken, the man to the far left is actually Rich himself.
I know I have some better print pics of an RS with the saddlebags on it. I'll just have to find them and scan them before I can post them. 1313 |

Look! My hair was brown! Actually, mine is the 2nd red bike, you can tell by the red a/c insert. And I've never had a white helmet. Thanks, 1313. |

Finally had a chance to dig out the pics and scan them. Step through this portal for a trip back in time. I believe this bike was prepped for a Moto-Journalist to ride, but I don't have a clue who it was.
Here's a younger Tom (I guess it would be Tommy then...) along with the previously mentioned Moto-Journalist.
And a (much) younger yours truly.

Great pictures! .......If anyone at the factory (or anyone else!) happens across a set of those bags under their desk or in a cupboard, I'll give them a good home! |

Rich is correct, those are chase Harper bags. I think they my simply be a standard design they sold back then with Buell stenciled on the side. |

Chase Harper got back to me...They make a similar bag still that is improved...The bag made for Buell was a #3500, The new one is a #3550...They actually checked for me to see if they still had any 3500s around with or without the Buell logo...No avail.. They say the new one fits the same, but has a few improved design features... I am looking into a set now....Hb |

I have the FACTORY HARD BAGS on my RS!
Of course - They are OEM from 1996! They fit right up - just had to use an S2 subframe. and an S2 rear body section. which caused the change to the S2 tank cover. And the S2 tank. Of course the fairing had to change to S2. and the fairing spider. Other than that, it's stock! Well, except for the aerocharger. The front fender is 1991 RS! THAT"S stock! Maybe it would still be that 'less-than-lovely' white flip-seat bike if I'd known about those saddlebags shown in 1313's photos!! AL |
