soo, went to get the tps reset on the buell today for the race ecm. turns out my hanging idle problem is due to a leaky intake seal. So im gonna be doing that tomorrow. and tips on replacing them? I also need to find new fuel injector o-rings and the hd dealership cannot find them. other than that.. got new tires put on it. and new icon helmet ordered. so the day wasnt a total waste. but it was expensive | ||

also, the p.n. they gave me at the hd dealership is 26995-86b with 2 intake manifold seals in it. my question is, what about the seals on the throttle body? should i worry about them? or do they go bad? | ||

get a hold of Al at American Sport Bike he will have the correct parts for you (I am going to order the same and just replace them before I start tuning) | ||

Just did that it seems to help some. the tb to manifold seals probably dont need it, the injector orings and the flange seals every 2 years .. any of our dealer sponsors can get the orings as can Al. | ||

Since you have everything already apart, replace the tb to manifold seal. It's less than 5 bucks even at HD. It makes no sense to not replace it. Not replacing it and having it start to leak a short time later isn't worth saving $5. I've seen then be perfectly fine and I've also seen them leak after not replacing them. Both on carbs and fuelies. Use a little grease on the seal when you put the TB or carb back in place. Saves wear and tear on the new seal.. | ||

I was told to use silicon on the O rings because petroleum breaks down the rubber. just my .02 . | ||

I believe silicon is not compatible with O2 sensors on FI bikes..... | ||

You can use a small propane torch to help remove the TB gasket. Just make sure you dont get it too hot and smoke something other than the TB gasket. | ||

most any rubber used in a fuel system will be ok with a light oil or grease, if you are afraid that there is an issue use soap and water on it. the FI orings work well with WD40 mine did not fit that tight, the old ones came out quite hard by comparison. IHTH |
