Well, now that I've put 1000 miles on my new Uly, it's a tossup as to which I like better for daily commuting/crusing - the Uly or the S2. The S2 definitely has better wind protection. Hands down. But until I got the Uly (leftover 06, tall seat - I'm 6'4", I never would have thought the peg height on the S2 was "tight". Not cramped, but definitely more personal. Also a much more body-forward riding position than the Uly's "my body is a sail" position, lol. I think I *appreciate* the Uly for what it can, and does, do. Just today I had it up our horrible washed out gravel mountain driveway. Basically 2 singletracks next to each other. The bike ate it up. I still *love* the S2. I came out of WallyWorld after picking some stuff up and walked much slower as I got the S2 in view. It is such a *sexy* bike. (Especially since I can keep it clean now, with the Uly being my "crappy weather" bike) I guess life can't be too bad if these are the kinds of things I think about.

Rat, thanks for sharing your experience with the Uly and S2. I have thought about the XB12XT a lot. Since I sold the FLH the S2T is my long distance bike but it is so much more than that. I use my XB12R for going back and forth to work and it is a spirited 25 mile ride one way and a lot of fun. Just turn the key, start, let warm up and go. If I got a XB12XT I would have to trade the XB12R in but I still really like to ride it and I am afraid if I ride a XB12XT I would have to have it as well. It is funny how my taste has changed. In 1996 the only Buell for me was a S1 but now when I look at those big bags and riding position on the Uly I want one. I must be getting old or wiser... I guess wiser is up for debate! BTW: I developed some more problems with the S1W (electrical). I am working through them but a buddy brought his X1 over due to shifting problems so I am up to my elbows (and empty beer bottles) fixing her up for him. I got the frame back from powder coat for my next project. A Sporty, I think I have most the pieces but the engine is trashed. I told the GF; Look honey another Basketcase! I found and it followed me home... Can I keep it???? |

Frank, I just test rode an XT in 'querque this past weekend and I'm hooked. I'll be trading in my city-X for one very soon. Still keeping my fleet of S2's though, and the S1. I have to agree as to the sexiness of these damn S2's. Everytime I look at one of mine I fall in love all over again. |

Bart, I have yet to ride one. I would be interested in your riding impressions. I was going to ride one at MBV but the rain came and the rides were canx... Frank |

Frank - don't ride an XT unless you're prepared to buy one. They really are that good. Nowhere near as sexy as the S2...but VERY capable and very planted in the twisties. The only reason I got a UlyX over an XT is a long, washed out gravel driveway that I'll be riding daily in a year or so once our new house is built (build the house, can't afford the driveway....fix the driveway, I lose my garage). |

So you say the XT is "Nowhere near as sexy as the S2..." Food for thought:
On second thought, there is no way any bike can be as sexy as an S2! 1313 |

THAT is an accurate statement. |
