the rear shock on my buell is shot. if i cant get it warrantied for being the recall shock, a guy has one from a 01 s3 that he will sell me if it fits... will it fit?? also, is there a place that rebuilds the stock shocks? im not spending 700 on a aftermarket shock |

You'll need the front mount for it too work, it's a shorter shock. I just put a newer one on mine. It rides way better now, great improvement over the original shock. (Message edited by jdbuellx1 on April 21, 2008) |

I put the newer shock on mine. It was the new style post recall shock from an '01 M2. They are shorter than the original on the X1, requiring a different front shock mount. |

hmm whered ya find that shock mount? would this s3 be the same shock as an m2? |

From the M2 that I took the shock from. Measure your shock from eye to eye with the rear wheel off the ground if possible, then measure the S3 shock eye to eye. If they are the same, no worries, put it on, if the S3 shock is shorter, well, start checking ebay or a local dealer for the upgraded shock mount. |
