OK two months ago I bought a spanking new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and I love how it feels.. BUT it is already worn flat!! However, considering it cost about 400USD I am sure you can understand it is no good deal for me. I mean I didn't even do burnouts and shit! So.. I would like to find one with a longer lifespan, though still having good traction for hooligan riding. What would you recommend? |

while you should pair up the tires with two of the same make, i will say that i like dunlops the new qualifier is a good bargain for a performance tire altho i am going to try perelli's next. blake, did you find a cliff yet..... jk |

I'm having good luck so far(3000 miles and plenty of center tread) with Metzeler M3's. I ride fairly aggressively but smoothly and within reason, your results may very.... |

I am getting good wear/traction from the Pirelli Scorpions. I bumped up to a 180. I believe the Pirellis are stock on current Buells? |

Bridgestone BT014 rears would give me 5 to 6000km. A Michelin Pilot Road gives good grip and I'll get about 9000 out of this one. Pilot Road 2s have the same centre compound but softer on the sides. They are what I'll go with next time. I'll stick with the BT014 on the front though. |

Uh huh, so Pilot Road is not like the Pilot Power that gave me 1500 km? |

pilot roads have a harder compound in the center of the tire where all your straight line riding wear occurs. the outsides have the same compound as the pilot powers where all the turning traction is needed. best of both worlds.... thats what im getting next week. |

That's what they said about Pilot Power 2CT as well, that it had a harder compound in the middle.. |

nope, the 2ct has the same compound as the pilot power in the center. but the outsides are a softer compound.... |

Exactly. My 2CTs' centre is gone. Sides are still OK |

You might try some Shinko 009 Ravens. The Aussies seem to like them and, from what I gather, they ride far and fast. I recently got a pair for my Suzuki 1200 Bandit because it positively shreds tires and these have received good reviews among other Bandit 1200 and Hayabusa riders. They are cheap and are supposed to last longer than others. I'll give an update after a few miles. |

No offense, but I don't think our American V-twins w/ look right with Shinko tires, regardless of price. Leave the Jap tires for Jap bikes. Stick to either American or European brands. After all, we are just transplanted Europeans anyway. My 2c. |

I don't think the store screwed you. Most riders these days think they need the absolute stickiest, raciest tyres they can get where in the real world our needs are somewhat different........the store was probably selling you what they thought you wanted. |

"No offense, but I don't think our American V-twins w/ look right with Shinko tires, regardless of price. Leave the Jap tires for Jap bikes." Is it alright to use German tires on an American motorcycle? You know with WWII and all... |

I have a set of the new Dunlop Roadsmarts that just came out this year and they are fantastic! I only have about 1000 miles on them but they are showing no signs of wear. They are also a dual compound like the Michelins so they stick in the corners and won't flat spot the rear as easily. There are also a little cheaper than the Michelins! Give it a shot and you won't be sorry. They are also supposed to be one of the best rain tires around. |

Bottom line Grov, dual compound road tyre. The BT014 is the best miler and is also good in the wet for about $200.00 US(don't know how to translate to euro). While it's a japanese tire, it still works good on our US bike. An it dosen't matter what you run on your baby, if you spin the tire you lose K's. |

Funny that a guy w/ the last name of Kaplan w/ bring up WWII. Lets all shed a tear for Anne Frank. Obviously he can run whatever he likes. As I stated earlier, what are Americans anyway? Just Europeans who have moved.I would find it odd if someone had Yokohamas on their classic muscle car. It's just personal preference. Besides, Europeans make the best products and who doesn't prefer the best? |

I'm about to spring for some Conti Road Attacks, again, dual compound, soft on the edges, harder in the center. It seems to be a trend now, all the makers make them. Oh yeah, Continental, as in 'made on the Continent (of Europe). Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have a lot of Americans who are not European descent. And what are Europeans anyway? Africans who migrated (40,000 years ago.) |

Actually Jayvee, that is incorrect. Africans are completely different genetically from Europeans. Which explains why all of Europe is successful and all of Africa, well, isn't. A few examples, arms are longer in relation to height, cranium size, length of lower mandible. I was watching one of those cold case shows. They had found a skeleton that was 80 years old. In trying to recreate the crime, they first generated a visual of the victim by adding clay to the skeleton. The scientist could tell that the victim was Negroid due to the differences I listed. Science don't lie. Two completely different branches of human evolution. Sure they are originally from the same source, much the way all living things came from bacteria. No offense to anyone, it's just the way it is. |

There is tons of new information in the last 10 years, about how scientists have traced, via DNA, EVERYBODY back to a small group of Africans that survived the Indonesian volcano of about 70,000 years ago. All homo sapiens traces back to some people who lived in Kenya/Ethiopia area. They did absorb some vestigal remaining survivors from asia. But apparently no Neanderthal, who apparently were also not indigenous European. There's lots of new research available, check it out, fascinating story. Unless you want to go by the six days, in the Bible, story which is a whole 'nother point of view. |

"After all, we are just transplanted Europeans anyway. My 2c." Wrong. We are a mixing pot of peoples from the world over including indigenous peoples. Not that that has anything to do with motorcycle tires. I think Japanese tires should go very well with our Japanese forks and our Japanese rear shocks. Bridgestone are Japanese tires too. They are darn good tires. Not sure there exists an American brand of motorcycle tire. "Funny that a guy w/ the last name of Kaplan w/ bring up WWII. Lets all shed a tear for Anne Frank." What a callous and hateful comment, and ignorant too. I know a number of Kaplans who aren't Jewish. DJ is one of them, not that it makes any difference at all to me. And it certainly has nothing to do with motorcycle tires. Gabe Kaplan is Jewish and a true American treasure. "Africans are completely different genetically from Europeans. ..." That is one of the most horrifically ignorant statements I've ever seen. Let's get one thing made crystal clear; BadWeB won't tolerate bigotry being promoted here. Either cease it entirely or sacrifice your posting privileges. This is a motorcycle forum. If you want to talk ignorantly with other bigots, try www dot kkk dot com. At one time, back when Europeans were picking nits and living in caves, it was Africans who commanded the world's pre-eminent society, architecture, science, commerce, technology and advanced levels of human achievement. Not convinced? It was Africans who invented beer and the mass production of it. What else do you need to know? (Message edited by blake on April 23, 2008) |
