Just brought it home, only 7900 miles!! I checked the recall status and alot are open, so I made my appointments for that stuff, is it safe to ride until they are done? Also anyone know of a good after market pipe for this one? Also it is the 4MZxxxxxxx01000 VIN, any idea on when it was produced? |

Should have a build date on the frame sticker just below the neck. If you send the whole vin to me at work (jgoetz@hdoffrederick.com) I can tell you when it was first sold...but not when it was built. |

Travis Well done enjoy your Buell. Upgrade to a S1W header and a Vance & Hines SS2R. If you would like more noise try and pickup a Buell race header and muffler. Checkout American Sport Bike. Joe |

The sticker that should be on the R/H side of the neck next to the stamped serial number should have the build date.. If the sticker is not there then the signature series info would have it, if you don't have that you can only estimate... |

Bad Karma - interesting you rate the sound that way. I have an S2 with the race muffler and it is lots quieter than the SS2R on my S1W... |

Rat, since we have the same bikes and almost the same setup I agree however, I was working on a buddys 96 S1 last night with thundestorm heads and S1W cams and race muffler and think it is as loud if not louder that my S1W with the SS2R. My S2 with race muffler is no were near as loud as either of those bikes. Corrosiontrav; look for the S2 owners list and send me your info (f_skinner at yahoo dot com) if you want to be added to it. Look on the neck of your bike for vin and build date (month/year) as someone pointed out. Post some pics of your bike and welcome to the addictive world of the fabulous S2s.. Frank |

Frank - I put a thunderstorm top end and Lightning component (X1) cams in my S2 last year. Still much quieter than the S1W. Maybe my ears are more sensitive to the crackle of the SS2R than the rumble of the race can...or I haven't burned as much packing out of the race can as I have out of the SS2R, lol. |

Rat, I am getting old and have trouble with hearing anyway so I am probably way off. They all sound good to me. My S2 motor is stock with the Race can and I really like the sound of it. The only thing that sounds better is a F22 drowning out the noise of a shuttle launch... Frank
