Anyone know how much trouble it would be to put a 99 X1 engine into a 98 S1 roller? |

If you're going to use the S1 ignition system, you need to change the ignition timing rotor for the S1 type from the X1 type, IIRC. |

You will also need to plug or plate over speed sensor hole in case, and route trans vent hose up subframe. |

Here is a picture of my 96 S1 that I installed my black 01 X1 engine in. I also used the swingarm, shock and brakes.

You could just leve the speed sensor in there and not use it, right? |

You can leave it in. I used a block off plate from a big twin trans. I used the wire harness and neutral light switch from the S1. |

The S1 is actually light blue, that first picture has bad lighting. The sun was going down. |

Dblast, Did you keep it fuel injected (with an earlier Cyclone tank) or go with a carb? |

I used the S1 carb and manifold, ignition and two inch header with a Vance&Hines. The engine has 1250 kit, 536 cams, and porting. It made 106hp and 85ft.lbs at the rear wheel on a Dynojet dyno when in the X1. With the carburetor and two inch header it feels stronger down low, butt might have lost some hp on the top. I want to have it on the dyno again to see what happened. |

When putting an X1 motor in an old tuber frame, make sure you change out the timing cup. The X1 is set up for single fire, the stock tuber motors don't like that much. The wiring harness and coils aren't set up for it. Bike will run like crap. Don't ask how I know. Brad |
