I want to put a different speedo gauge on my 97 S3, does anyone know what ratio is used. The gauge I want is offered as a 1:1, 2:1, or 2240:60. I've asked at the local Harley dealer, I've called the tech department at Drag Specialties and Bikers Choice, no help. I've even tried searching the Knowledge Vault. Starting to get frustrated. Please help!

Why don't you index the wheel and the speedo cable. Turn the wheel one rev and count how many times the speedo cable turns.

That definately helps, thank you guys... I tried to look up how to find the ratio myself and couldnt find the info. I should have realized it is that simple. Index, turn and count. Thanks again.

Phat_J what year is your S2, and is your speedo accurate? I'm not so worried about the speedo being correct, but I would like the odometer to be.

With the options, It will either be as accurate as it's going to get (I would say 3-5 percent, but I've not measured), or it will be so off, you know you have the wrong box.

Knowing Buell/HD, I'd say then, that all are probably 1:1.
