Got my new replacement needle after waiting for two weeks. I ordered the part from Parts Unlimited, they ordered it from Edelbrock, not super fast. I also ordered a new backing plate for the air cleaner. The original part as you know is a hand made fiberglass plate that tends to crack and warp. It's a bit funky looking. The replacement (part # P0214.8A) is a very clean looking molded plastic part. Looks like it came off of a new bike. If you are trying to repair the old plate, forget it and get this one. I had to drill carb mounting holes into it, probably because my bike is from California. Once drilled it fit perfectly. Bike runs like a champ again. Hopefully, the needle will stay in one piece. I have to say, it is a pleasure to see HD making redesigned parts for the old S2. Plus it was $30, I call that reasonable. |

Do you have a part number for the backing plate? Might have to get a spare for my daily ride, "just in case" |
