Machined this front mount from 7075 aluminum. I made it to accept the updated upper rear "Z" mount rubber bushings. Then machined 2 stainless steel flanged bushings to fit inside the rubber bushings and between the pipe mounting bracket. Then reinforced and TIG welded the SS pipe mount bracket to the pipe(no more funky muffler clamp to break).Had the machined bracket black anodized to match original also. Works very good so far, and the bushings are readily available.Never liked the looks of that retrofit Tri-Y bracket buell came up with

That looks good, but keep us updated on how durable it is. I've seen quite a few welded mounting shoes crack after they've been welded to the collector.

I also don't have the Y-mount. I tried to get a Buell dealer to update it for me (to no avail) when the factory was offering it as a free upgrade the first year it came out. When I got my race kit, I'd heard the mounting shoe had a reputation for breaking (even with the Y-mount it seems) so I used a much lighter muffer. I also beveled the edges of the shoe so it wouldn't create a stress riser in the clamp.

So far, so good for 20,000 miles.

Nice job I still have the original hanger on my 96 S1, looks much cleaner than the inverted Y.

I had lots of issues with the original front bracket --- broken rear mounts and header bolts -- maybe because I like to ride fire roads -- who needs a Uly -- All those issues are gone since I installed the inverted Y -- but your workmanship is top notch and it certainly does look much cleaner.

I've done various similar setups through the years, and they do seem to solve the issues. I'll never understand why Buell didn't do that. I guess it takes an engineer or something.
