Is anyone running a windscreen taller than stock? I tell ya, I have been riding the S2 pretty much every day since May and the poor FLHP has been sitting unloved and unused in the garage. I took it out tonight out of pity - and I had a couple errands to run - and in 40 degree weather that windshield made a HUGE difference in my comfort level. Same gear I rode home in on the S2 - FXRG nylon outer jacket, heated jacket liner, heated gloves, jeans, boots. Less of a helmet than on the Buell - full on the Buell, half on the FLH - and a facemask. I know it won't have the same effect as the huge plexiglass sail in front of me on the FLH, but I was curious if a taller S2 windshield would give me more protection in the colder weather. |

Yeah, I know they're out there...just curious to talk with someone who's used one to see if it actually makes a noticable difference. Thanks for the link though - saves me searching for it |

Being long n lanky, I wonder if a +4 would be too much for me. I'm 6'4"... |

Also wondering: I looked at the Gustafsson site and it looks like the + measurements aren't in what I'd consider dome height, but in front to rear length? Hank - do you remember if your +2 stuck back past the back of the fairing? Or does it flex into place when you attach it and it is actually just a taller dome? I wish they had pics of them installed on their site...they have one on an S3 in the pic page, looks like a +6 or more. I'm guessing it's similar in style for the S2... |

Actually I have some of those pictures. Nobody at Buell misses painting (although Steve still does lots of custom paint) but the S2 paint process was very cool. The idea RS-1220 when Rich Moos was painting Buells and required that all parts be put o jigs to hold them in the same relative position they would occupy on the bike. I suspect you'll be able to read quite a bit about it soon . . . don't miss the chapter on the design of the shape. |

96 - that'd be awesome. Also, how tall are you, torso height, arm length, etc? I'm trying to figure out what will "work" best for me based on actual measurementations n' scientificable stuff like that. lol. |

I got the 4" taller today. It is a liitle "conehead like" at the top of it. Does not look as steamlined as the stock one for sure. I hope it deflects the wind without breaking or buffeting around. It looks a bit flimsy with the extra 4" added on. I gues I can always take the dremmel to it if I want. This picture is the new one layed over top of the old one.Only 2 screws in holding them. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3127/1004751xc5.jpg (Message edited by 96S2T on November 18, 2007) |

Got the pics - that is quite a difference. I'll be interested to hear how it works for ya! Also, in the pics I notice you've upgraded your headlight. Whose light is that, and how do you like it? I've got a pair of PIAA 004XTs added now, but the headlight still sucks. I'm thinking about the Hella H4 conversion with a superwhite bulb...but I like the look of yours too. |

Placed the order online Saturday the 17th. Just got an email receipt from them for the order (Monday the 19th). Court - they're in St Augustine FL, and I'm headed there this week for Thanksgiving. If they have a storefront I'll stop by; what were you looking for, RS1200 windshields? You've got my email and my phone...let me know joe |

Rest assured, there will be pics of both screens on the bike at once for comparison, and "seat of the pants" impressions from my lanky a$$ riding in the cold northeast |

+2, medium smoke arrived from Gustafsson today, perfect condition. Getting ready to swim out to the garage (crappy rainy weather) and put it on. Will post pic(s) of the install for those who are interested as soon as I get it on! (er...installed) |

Here we go. Sitting on it in the garage, it looks like quite a bit more of a "bubble" to hide in. Tomorrow's cold, rainy, crappy commute will tell....

Well, with hellish crosswinds this morning it wasn't much of a gauge. There was virtually no turbulence around my head with the +2, but I was getting odd gusts to my body that were moving me around a bit. Don't know if that's the crosswinds or the different shield shape so I'm going to withhold judgement on it at the moment. Definitely a more relaxed ride now, though - my hands aren't "holding on" as much as just "steering" now and I was nice and warm with one less layer (fleece in the laundry) and the heated liner on med/lo. Tucking in / slumping forward didn't make any noticable difference like it does with the stocker, either. The rain held off for the ride, so I don't have a weather report, only the wind. So far...me likey I just have to get used to the Cathedral-sized dome out there in front of me, LOL. |
