I recently got this unit from a friend - anyone have any info on these? Were they a freebie like the messenger bags and others of late? This is the first one of these I've encountered. It's got a drawstring closure on the top that gets covered by a flap, and a full-length zipper that goes vertically between the straps. Orange interior looks waterproof, or maybe more like "moisture resistant" Plus, it has a velcro'd flap with slots for cards, and a wallet on the front. Pretty cool, in a back-pack sort of way! Tag has a photo of a 1995 S2, and says the bag was made in the country of TAWAIN (Which was the name for the small island country, known for their high-production manufacturing, that was unexpectedly absorbed over a holiday weekend by it's nearest neighbor, Taiwan, in early 1996) AL

Tawain....didn't he write that Huck Finn story? According to the part number, it's a Buell Touring Backpack and it retailed for $72. Nice score, never seen one of those before! |

Al: It was part of the wonderful assortment of S-2 based accesories which included a hat, a polo shirt, 3 t-shirts (including the demo shirt) and several other items. The leather and wool jacket was Buell branded and made in the USA. Erik and I learned, while riding to do a radio talk show VERY EARLY like 4AM on WGN in Chicago - I brown nosed by way on the the Bob Collins show as the result of a little talk I gave one night at a conference I'd brown nosed by way into as the speaker) that the jacket looked good but wasn't great for riding. That's a really cool looking pack. It was not a give away. The give away for that year was the "I Came to my Senses" demo ride shirt. The following year it was the gray Buell-Buell-Buell shirt . . |

I should auction this baby off! Maybe I'll start the bidding around $7,000 Auction winner gets the back pack, plus a FREE 1991 Turbo'd, S2'd - RS1200 Buell motorcycle!! Court - I think I've seen some of the jackets you speak of - I think they resemble the old (maybe maybe NOT old as it's been quite some time since I was in High School!) varsity jackets. If you ever get out to Pasadena to visit the offspring - look me up - I'm right next door - Fresh pie (unshipped and relatively intact!) and that aforementioned RS available for your use.
