I've been searching for a high capacity oil filter for my '99 X1. I searched Badweb, found a list, and went to the auto-parts store only to find everyone of them the size of my fist. Is there an "auto-parts store" type filter with higher capacity? |

What about the HD long filter? They tried to sell me one of those once but I have the billet oil cooler on so it would have looked like a lopsided highway bar. |

Chase, I looked at the K&N last night, but it was very small. You mean the K&N HP 1003, right. I didn't find the FL1A. |

Get the long neck filter that fits the '99 Dyna. Be careful about swapping out different filters. Just because it fits doesn't mean its the correct pressure releif and micron size rating. Wix / NAPA is a good resource to confirm. |

I'd like to avoid the Harley dealer if possible. I called Advance autoparts. They have the FL1A. Does anyone know the specs for relief pressure and micron? |

Pikeslayer- MotorCraft FL1A is equivalent to a Fram PH8A, which used to be about the most common filter sold. I wouldn't recommend you buy a Fram, but just about any manufacturer makes an equivalent. They fit Pinto 2.3L 4-cylinders and Chrysler small blocks 318/340 cubic inch among others. |

No, I mean the 3001... The 1003 is TINY... the 1003 and 1004 are HONDA filters... The 3001 is the Ford BIG filter... I verified it on my bike before I posted, even though I know it... AS far as specs... Personally, I dont have them with me here at work, but, I also wouldnt worry about it. I have been running this Filter for 3 years with no issues... According to this site: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html which lists cross-references for motorcycle oil filters. All these filters are OK based on threads, base size, filtering capability, and by-pass pressure rating: "These Oil Filters have 3/4" x 16tpi threads, 8 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back valve. Recommended filters in blue. Available filters include * Purolator PL10241 / PL25230 * Mobil 1 M1-102 * Bosch 3330 * AMSOil SMF 133/134/135 * Baldwin B1413 * Fram PH6022, PH6065A * Hastings LF576 * NAPA 1348" * Purolator ML16822 * WIX 51348 " |

Ok. Went the Purolator PL30001. I would've went with the L30001, but the PL came in this awesome blue metal flake color. |
