I posted this in the KV. Got a few responses, but not an answer to my question. -Is the Showa shock rebuildable for better performance, or not? Thanks. |

Yes. Had one redone by Aftershocks in Palo Alto for the S-2 I sold to Sportyeric. |

Travis If I remember correctly there is someone on this site that said they would rebuild the shock. I took mine to the nearest Race Tech the guy said he would be able to upgrade the spring and replace the seals and recharge the shock. That was six months ago. I have since went with the works shock. I know the price is hard to swallow but I will be able to get it rebuilt or get parts to do it myself. Besides the exposed spring is what the tubers started with and in my opinion is what they should have. The shock is very good but that is comparing it to a damaged showa. Joe |

Even though the Showa can be rebuilt-why w/ you? It is crap when brand new. I suggest going w/ either the Works or Penske. |

Just trying to figure out what my options are, Warlizard. Thanks for the info, all. |

why the hell is a rear shock $1000, dont get me wrong, I hear the penske is phenominal but really, its just one shock! |

It was a decent shock new and when you get it redone to your specs it is better. And way less than a Penske or Works. |

I just had racetech rebuild my rear recall shock ( the one Buell installed to replace my original) on my 2000 M2. I was borrowing my friends brand-new out-of-the-box recall showa while I sent my shock in. It was less than 150 $ to rebuild including the shipping back home. When I put the racetech rebuild back on my bike, it felt noticeably (as in much) better than the brand new one I was borrowing. For what that's worth... |

I had After Shocks rebuild mine last summer, made a HUGE difference in my track day compared to the other recall shock I rode at the first track day. (Now for the front end) Aftershocks also custom valves the thing for your weight and riding style and will replace the spring with one for proper weight if needed. Much easier on my wallet than the Works or Penske, I know they look cool but I want to spend that money on other things. |

Is there a place where you could buy the parts and do it yourself? Then just get it recharged? |
