Looking for a set of S2 bars to modify, and H-Dnet shows them as vendor direct. Court - do you know who the vendor is, and what do you think the chances are they'd sell just the clamp and bolt section with no bar attached? I'd like to get just the clamps so I can make a "personalized height" set of bars for my bike |

Rat... All the S2Ts were supposed to have had bars recalled...I believe they were 1" taller than the regular S2... Im curiuos, if the recall provided bars that were 1" taller or did every one end up with the lower S2 bars... I have no idea what is on mine.. Anyone no the actual height of the s2t bar? Court? Hb |

I do not have the recalled bars on my S2. The they seem to be about 6 inches tall from the base to the highest point and start making the bend around 4 inches. From the pictures it is a little hard to tell. I hope this helps.
S1W teardown begins. You can tell a lot about a person when you start seeing the things they have done or rigged up on a bike. Not too many surprises yet but a lot of simple stuff that could have been fixed correctly if they had taken their time.

I'll measure my S2 bars when I get home. I'm actually thinking about going lower, not taller (what with my sasquatch-length arms, LOL). I know my bars are the standard ones though, since my 95 isn't a "T". |

>>>All the S2Ts were supposed to have had bars recalled...I believe they were 1" taller than the regular S2... The recalls (there were 3 of them promulgated under 3 different numbers for some reason . . I don't know) addressed ONLY the tall bars and provided for replacement. The replacement bars were built differently to eliminate the stress. My left bar broke at Heartland Park Topeka in Turn 3 (major left hand sweeper) and it was non-eventful. I felt it bending and flopping before it broke and it was fun to pass a fellow holding my bar in my hand. Easy fix. No injuries or accidents as a result of. Here's the internal correspondence.

too big to post . . basically all the letters to and from twinxt Buell and NTHSA essentially saying . . we're gonna have owners come in to get bars replaced. Discovered via testing and field complaint, no injuries/accidents. |

I broke a standard handlebar on mine, failed weld or thin weld or questionable prep or (enter personal answer here). As noted, the taller bars were recalled, the shorter bars were not as far as I know, and I know nothing officially. ;) Still plan to do my own thing for replacing the stock bars, some day. |

ratbuell,, dont forget that if you are going to make your own bars that you need to dimple them where the controls mount on for the wire clearances. early s2t bar were cut where they mounted to the clamp the later ones were depressed, dimpled and then welded.. if you search you can find pictures of both.. hope this helps.. |

Yeah, I have a few old HD bars I was going to "sacrifice" - some 1" drags, a set of FLHT bars, a set of old FXD/XL buckhorns, and a set of FLHP bars which I think are just FLSTC. Different heights, different angles...chance to learn some welding, LOL. Of course, once I tack on the ones I want, I'll have the guys in the machine shop do the finish welds. No sense having one of my "welds" come loose when riding, LOL. |

Joe, What would you be willing to surrender for a set? I have some from my RS. One of the bars is tweaked, yet the clamp is good. Bry My other spare set(Westtek) are not leaving anytime soon. |

hey ratbuell if you have machine shop guys at you disposal??? why not just have them make up a couple new clamps... could be styled how ever you want.. or make ones that clamp on the top of the forks and the bars so that you can vary bar height some.. some one used to make a set like that.. when i made my bars i left the clamps a 1/4" shorter so i can extend the front forks a little more for tuning.. |

Couple reasons I don't have new clamps made. 1. I work in Sales; I still have to pay for machine time And they won't show me how to use the damn machinery, either. Grrr. 2. I like to carry the stock look as far as I can. I love the look of some of the newer billet clamp setups, but on the S2 I think the stock chrome band would look best. Loki - I don't know what they're worth to ya. I can get a new pair from Buell still for about $45 a side I think (the -T bars are still available), but I'd rather not buy brand new just to hack up. Let me know what you want for 'em |

Does anyone know the part # for the touring bars and peg mounts. Local dealer does not have a part book. |

Dealer contacted Buell and found the #. Dealer said they offer a kit to change to T bars w/ grips clamps and bars for 140. |
