All S2 owners, see the attached spreadsheet and email any updates to me at f_skinner@yahoo.com. Thanks to Kristi and Bart for the help. There are a lot of holes in this list but with everyones help it should come together. If you want your email added to the list let me know. I will do my best to build on what Bart and Kristi have already done. Frank

Frank, I actually have a third S-2 that was converted to my race bike, will get vin for you. And just an FYI for all those listing their bikes,I see alot of 1995 S-2T's listed and there was no such beast. The "T" designation was a 1996 model only. Nice work, thanks. |

Thanks for pointing that out. I also noticed I have a 2005 bike (I gotta stop drinking ;)... I know there are errors and I tried to reflect the information I found on various web sites knowing that the S2T was a 96 bike only. I also noticed a couple of 1994 S2's but I am not confident on my history of S2s to know if that is correct or not. A definite "work in progress". I will do my best to keep it up-to-date an accurate with the help of everyone that owns one (or more) of these great machines. I will update your info as soon as you send it to me. Thanks, Frank |

Don't get too hung up on the whole year thing. I finished the S-2 chapter yesterday and included the "official" build figures and also the colors of the first 6 bikes built. There was, at the time, a bit of a scramble, to get things done and built. . . . there were, samutimeously, about 4 other things in the mix like "oh yes, we need to hire some workers?" and "hey, shouldn't we have a factory or something?". It gets good. The only S2 models were 1995 and 1996. |

Build date could be 1994 for an S-2--I had one of the "early" build ones ,build date of 7/94. But it was a M.Y. 1995. |

That would be accurate. The first S2's were built in February 1994.. . roughly one year, 9 days and 14 hours after the company was formed. |

Court But how about the two in the October 1993 Cycle World issue??? And all the ones in Deland and Daytona in March of 1994 were buildt in Feburary??? |

...or were the early S2's "converted" RS/RSS bikes? Leftcoastal's turbo bike is an RS with S2 bodywork on it, damned if it doesn't look like it's supposed to be there! Pure speculation, of course... |

But how about the two in the October 1993 Cycle World issue??? Pre-production prototypes, I'm sure.
Since I don't want to spoil any surprises completely I won't tell you the significance of the building going up in the background of these next 2 shots.
Oh, 1993, during the height of the big glasses craze...
Ratbuell, ...or were the early S2's "converted" RS/RSS bikes? Nope, but the S2's architecture is based heavily off the RS/RSS bikes. There's one important difference where the frame had to be widened on the S2. The reason? Belt drive instead of chain drive. Now who can identify this factory Buell dash?
Hint #1 - It's not a S2. Hint #2 - This is exactly the way it left a Buell factory. 1313 |

Let's see.... HD gauges, RS/S style Temp gauge, RS/S style But no keyswitch...and S2 orientation... Late RS/S, on the way to becoming an S2? Or further back, like RR1000? Although the RR didn't have the cheesegrater vents beside the headlight that I can see in the photo.... hmmmmmm..... I'm going with late RS/S. (edit: Euro, of course...kph speedo ;) ) Great pics by the way! (Message edited by ratbuell on October 28, 2007) |

I should point out that although the S2 Owners list started as a way to track Signature Series covers/documentation, it has changed some what. I wanted to be able to account for the bikes and their location. Also if anyone is inclined to include the last 4 of their VIN and Build Date please do. I think it will help account for the bikes. I noticed on a spare Signature Series cover and documents I have that the VIN, year and make (ie S2 or S2T) is included. If anyone has "spare" signature series documentation it would be helpful to have that information on the spreadsheet as well. Thanks, Frank f_skinner@yahoo.com |

Court, correct, I have you as having the following spares: 298 to a 95 S2 294 to a ? ? I have a spare and on the cover it has: 96S2T49 347/398 so I conclude it is for a 96 S2T (I am not sure about the 49, I do not have it in front of me) But I do recall that the VIN was on the document with the cover. My thought process is the more we know about the bike the easier it will be able to reunite the bike and the signature series stuff. Frank |

For the listkeepers, my series number and last four of the VIN are the same, 1365. '95 S2, got it all, should be on the spreadsheet. So...do we find out what the dashboard is in?? |

Onahog, thanks for the info. I will update asap. I wrote Buell a letter as well about two weeks ago. The spare I got was off of craigslist. The person I got it from said the dealer had extras so the dealership sold him an extra one which means someone bought a bike and did not get it. That leads me to believe that the signature series documentation was shipped with the bike from the factory (at least in 1996). And means you were at the mercy of the dealerships to get the documentation. My 96 S2T sat on a dealership floor for 3 years before it was sold (I am the third owner) so I am sure the signature series stuff is long gone. It probably ended up in a trash bin behind the dealership. When you get a response from Buell let us know. Thanks again, Frank |

Two questions: I wonder if there would happen to be a stash of blank plates about anywhere? ANSWER: No, there are not. I wrote Buell a few months ago, No reply! ANSWER: Few at Buell would have the foggiest idea what you were referring to. The program was conceived and administered by a group of folks at Buell DISTRIBUTION Corp who have all moved on. I am working with one of them on another project, unrelated, at the moment. Let me see if I can discoverate any newsformation. |

I wrote Buell asking the same thing. Within a week a got a call back saying that that program was discontinued 11 years ago and they did not have any "extras" around. The guy that called did go into a little bit behind the program and called it a promotional program which it probably was. They could not provide me a buildsheet or tell me what dealership the bike went to after it left the factory or who it was sold to. I was probably hoping for too much. The search continues for my missing stuff. Frank |

Just got home from talking to some high school kids. Was at Brady Tech here in Milwaukee. In the "transportation" area, which gets support from H-D, I saw a gorgous purple S2-T. Anyone aware of this particular bike? Going to contact them later and ask about the bike as I was unable to get a close look at it today. |
