I replaced the intake and carb seals on my 96 S2, and I still am getting back fires, stumbles, pops & surges. I have a buell race intake with a spacer from a kuryaken haypercharger, gutted SSR2 (that is the way it came) 185 main, 45 slow, 2.5 turns out on the 'hidden' screw, newer split-fires. It idles nice and takes revs (below 3000 rpm rev) when it is cold. As it warms up it does the above mentioned. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Step up your main. Mine runs on a 45/190 and is just about perfect. Also check your plug wires. Mine "tested" fine but if I rode in the rain...forget it. Changed them out, completely different animal. |

Recheck your seals, you may still have a leak. Don't ask how I know.... I use starting fluid with a directional straw. Don't use too much as the fumes getting drawn into the intake can fool you. |

Thanks for the info guys, do have a recommendation on the plug wires? Can sportster wires be used or is there an aftermarket option? |

I run the Screamin Eagle wires for 80-something to 03 XL. No issues, easy to get, and *cheap* (a pair of S/Es cost the same as *one* OEM wire - go figure). |
