Does anyone know the part number for the K&N filter that comes on the Forcewinder for carbed applications? Where would be the best place to get a replacement filter? |

You might want to take a look at the K&N web site, they have some new interesting shapes, for about the same prices online as most retailers. Like one with a filter on the tip end, instead of the metal plate. This seems like it would help the 'force' part of the Forcewinder, if air could get straight into it. Also there's another one that's like 1 inch shorter that might look good. |

I was in the the K&N site and looking at all the different filters I could use, but most of them didn't seem as aesthetic as the original one. I use my filter without the drysock (it blew off years ago - the band had lost its elasticity). The outer folded edges of the filter cloth looks like it got sandblasted over time and its got a few thin spots. A K&n won't last forever in this application. The drysock would have certainly helped... but it flows better without it. |

Thanks for the heads up on cas4.com... went ahead and ordered it online. It's x-pensive! For some reason, Force didn't have a replacement filter online for the XR, only the XR2 or an XR 'billet' filter for $130. |

YW Dj. Yes, they r pricey. I may switch to the one for carbs and re-route my breather to a catch can. Too many other things on the "to do" list. You mentioned the "XR". I am guessing that the filter for it has no inlets for breather/sensor? They have those at cas, at the top of the page. The ones for the XR2 you specify 1 or 2 inlets when you order. I don't have my bike handy, but just from memory, isn't the Force filter about this size? The K&N direct site shows it's $37. http://store.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Pro d=RC-3680 |

What the hell? I couldn't find RC-3680 anywhere on the K&N site. I'm going to double check the dimensions and go this way... thanks! Cas4 was almost $70. |

Cas4 was very cool about cancelling the on-line order. I got a personal phone call back from them and was impressed with the customer service, even though I didn't turn out to be a customer yet. "isn't the Force filter about this size?" I double checked, and yes, RC-3680 is the correct size to be a replacement filter. Oddly enough, F024E4 is the part number on the old Forcewinder K&N filter. |

I've been trying to find one this size with the filter material in the forward-facing flat at the tip, but it doesn't look like they make one of those ("Xtreme") models this size. If you look at the RRC Big Blow, they put a great big air filter on there, the exact shape may or may not be critical, since the front end is blocked off anyway. And I'm still thinking, what was all the fuss about a 'still-air box' ? Maybe one of those carbon cover things would really improve the performance at speed. I don't think they can measure this on a Dyno. |

Force filters have a lifetime guarantee. If it gets up, they'll replace it for free, folks. |

Force says if it failed because of a manufacturers defect, they would replace it free of charge. They already told me how they've sold thousands of K&N's and never replaced one because the filtering media frayed at the folds in the screen. I doubt Force would replace this filter, but it would only cost me the charge for shipping to find out. Thanks for the heads up. |
