Hi, I am lead to believe these are kept fairly tight to the chest of those in the know. Would like to get the tail section of my X1 2001/02 colour matched to frame (nuclear blue). Can anyone provide this information so I can pass this onto my painter for mixing and then painting. PM me or post here. Much appreciated in advance for any help received. Thanks |

Whitey...I'm sure the color has been replacated in a paint format. But all the factory nuc blue parts were a powder coat process. |

The place that power coated the frames and wheels for buell is Classic Coating in Sheboygan, Wisconsin 877-398-9388 They seem like good people. I don't know if they would help with some sort of paint code. |

Man! that is some useful info there! I would love to match my "derby cover" to the frame. (at least a new one that isn't scratched from stupid Nate) |

Last time I talked to classic coatings... they only had a little of the nuke blue left,(they mentioned it in ounces).... The color is copyrighted by HD... I been trying to play this game for a year now.. There is a "Nuke Blue" paint.. but, 99 percent sure it wont match the powder... That said, I did manage to come close to the right color, but, not good enough for my tastes.. Chase |

There's also Exotic Coatings in Romulus MI 734-595-4674. They claim that they can match anything. There also a lot cheaper than Classic. If you go to there web site they have a lot of examples. I'm looking at getting my frame redone, found this guy from a custom bike builder in my area. He's been really happy with his work. |

I have some of the powder and have many parts already powder coated. I have a tail section, swing arm, and rear sets done that have not been mounted. I have even done some xb wheels for a change. Not only were the frames powder coated, but the powder will be much more durable. |

I used to have a 99 Road glide that had painted bags and fairing which were so close to matching my Nuclear Blue S3T that I couldn't tell any difference. At the time I bought a used tour-pack for the RG and matched the paint using the harley color. I believe the name Harley used was "Aqua Blue". Anyhow, If you paint the part using that paint code it will be damn hard to tell the difference. I'll look up the paint code when I get home later today and post it here. I used PPG hardened enamil paint and it's some pretty tough stuff when cured. BC Steve |

There is another option .. Make sure your frame is clean .. and have your local auto paint supplier (I prefer any PPG vendor) scan your frame - they should be able to get a paint mixed to match- will it look like fresh from the factory - probably not - but I would be willing to bet the frame coating has changed a little ... this way you can get an exact match to your frame - not just the color name of your frame. Actually, I believe that there is little to no Nuclear Blue left at Classic Coatings. I had my wheels and frame repowdercoated this summer by Classic and when I sent the parts, they were not sure if they would have enough powder for all three and I had to give them an alternate color. Thank God they had enough because I love Nuclear Blue. |

Actually, I believe that there is little to no Nuclear Blue left at Classic Coatings. I had a conversation with them this spring No nuke blue was what I heard.. IIRC I was told that Buell had a copyright on the powder color and that it was not available any more. I would like to have the frame and some parts redone next year

Hey Sjh, I have a pair of stock wheels I would like to have powder coated in Nuclear Blue. They are currently black but I can have them blasted if needed. Let me know how much please and if they or you can do them. I'm not in a hurry since these will be replacing my other wheels that are the wrong color. Long story..... BC Steve |

Take a sample to a auto body paint supply store and tell them you wanted matched with some good PPG or something. There is no copyright on color. The reality is Buell wont sell it to you thats all. You can make match change any damn color you can think of. Just when you find someone who can do it, get the recipe and share with your brothers or have the guy be prepared to make more for people. LOL thanks for the laugh. |

They used to have the paint codes on sporttwin.com. Haven't been there in ages so I don't know if they are still there. |
