Machining swarf clogged up oil passegeway behind oil pressure switch right off the bat, shift detente clip popped off twice due to pins backing out (Green Loctite finally fixed that). Other than that, no problems in 15,000+ miles. |

I can't say that I've really had any problems with mine that weren't general wear items, i.e. tires, brakes and gaskets, or stuff that wasn't in some way my own fault. I have had to jump the kick stand switch and add driving lights but other than that it's pretty much been over 23,000 trouble free miles. (Until I post this then it's going to fall apart so I'll knock on this synthetic, manufactured wood) |

The only problems I have had (not normal wear or preventive maintenance stuff) 02 sensor- replaced under warranty Rocker box gaskets- replaced under warranty (Both during the first 6 mos of ownership) During my ride this summer to Laguna: Speedo sensor went wonky; fixed itself! TPS sensor may be due for replacement. This winter intend to replace the oil pump drive gear. Have a speedo sensor and TPS on hand if replacement is needed. Currently 16k on the clock. |

Questions for Chevy. 8k front brake line (replaced with braided) ok must be a old x1 10k rebuilt engine top end Exactley why did you do this? 12k rear shock leaking (surprise.lol) older shock? 15k fuel pressure regulator seals 16k crank seal 16k fuel filter cracked, new fuel line 16k stock intake sucks, modified for u.n.i. cone filter directly on intake tube 18k front exaust mount older x1? 18k clutch cable ok 20k ignition pickup wire broke causing mass troubleshooting 22k tail lense fell off gota check those Harley screws. At 7000 miles I havent had much of a problem. 5000 k leaking valve cover gaskets replaced plus intakes cause they were 6 years old. 5000 k front wheel bearing leaking, changed rear and front wheel bearing in pm wheels ...sianara turkey bearings. 4000 k changed O2 sensor, previous owner was using race gas sometimes. 6000 k found loose temp sensor general maintenance up to 7500k nice bike! |

02 X1W when it was new I went through 4 O2 sensors before I got a good one, no trouble since I hit a man hole divot on a newly paved street and broke my front motor mount, pain in the ass to repair My stock exhaust mount welds on the muffler broke, so I replaced it with a race can I have 19,555mi on it. I am going to ride it to the Ralph Wayne's Vintage Backyard Nationals motorcycle show here in KC today and then hopefully not go over the 20k mi mark and then I am going to quit riding it for awhile. Supposedly Buell only made like 742 X1W bikes and I want to keep the mileage down on it. I have an FXR to ride. |

BTW, replaced the swing arm and steering head bearings at the 10k service as they were watermarked, but I consider that a service/maintainance item, not a failure. |

35,000 on 01 X1, Rocker box covers (both twice) (fixed with XB covers) Primary side crank seal twice (12k and 34k) speedo sensor (2) engine temp sensor (2500 or so) Shock (replaced with Works performance) belt (1) 12000 or so calipers rebuilt to get that old feel back (not broken) wear items: several sets of front brake pads, 1 rear lots of tires, Dunlops (207s and 208s) Pirelli (Pilot Road, Diablo), Metzler (Z6), and thats about it. The worst part of ownership was when it was under warranty and the dealer would give it back to me in the same state I dropped it off (ET sensor took about 2 months to figure out) or worse the dealer that did fix it said that it came under tuning and not under warranty. I come from an IL4 background, I wasn't aware of how much "character" the sportster motor has. It was some quick learning The primary side crank seal is a pita, but its not bad once you get the hang of it. The fact that I've had to do it twice sort of bugs me, but she ran fine at Pocono so it only bugs me a little. I wouldn't hesitate to do another 1000 mile day on the bike. I can hear homecoming calling..... |

do a planned update / repair IMO 1st tensioner shoe for the primary 2nd rocker box gaskets & pump gear ( same time saves one teardown ) other items as needed, or as planned ie 8 year old isolators MAY need attention fork oil may need changing you bike does not have the updated parts unless you or the prior owner put them on. |

02 X1W with race ECM, headers and muffler. Replaced the ET sensor around 15,000 km's. Gear-shift shaft seal is weeping oil a little. Other than re-packing and re-rivetting the race muffler every second oil change (!) it's been great, now has 25,000 km's on it, has never let me down . I am planning on upgrading the shock and fork springs to something better, but originals are still ok for the mileage. cheers, chili (I am also now knocking on synthetic, manufactured wood ) |
