but sorta the same motor I have a line on a 2003 Sportster 1200 (not sure which model yet) with 3400 miles. The lady is getting divorced and looking for a quick sale. Would you pay $5000 for that bike? If I don't take the deal, I'll post the info here for any interested parties. |

Great condition? Clear Title? Never laid down? Suggested retail for a base model 2003 Sporty 1200 is $6500. |

Don't bother. You want a 2004 or later. Bike was completely redone for '04. I know 03 is the anniversary edition, but you can get the 04 or maybe an 05 for the same price. I recommend the 1200R, I am a prior owner of an '05. |

Better yet I can get you a "new" ( never sold/never titled ) 2002 X1W for 7200.00. This includes the original 1yr warranty. Bike has been inside heated showroom collecting dust. The 2002 had all the upgrades/updates, I believe the bike had a list price of 11K. You can always buy a used Sporty, I doubt there are more than a few dozen unsold tubers in the entire country. |

Don't get the 2004 or later because they have the tranny where you have to split the cases to get the tranny out, no trap door to get in there. $5000 is a good deal |

If you like excessive vibration, go for the '03. The '04's also have better cams, higher rev limits, reduced clutch effort etc, etc. Overall it is a far superior bike. A tranny trap door would be nice, but how often will you need to work on it? 5K for the '03 is a decent price, thats because seller knows everyone wants the 04. The only Sporty's worth having are the "S" or "R" models. The other ones look like cheap, miniature Softtails. |

I sat on my 2005 883/1200 conversion for 2 months at $6,500.00.. then $6,000.00.. then $5,500.00. It was like new with 2,500 miles on it. I finally ended up taking $5,400.00 for it. I have the agree that the 2004+ is a much better bike than a 2003. I wish I hadn't sold mine, but I guess if I hadn't I might never have picked up my Cyclone. As it is, I rode it last night (cold)and all day today. I am taking a break right now to eat, and then right back out. Bill |

Long story short....it turned out to be a dud!!! The guy told me it was a 1200 Custom that he was selling for his sister. I drive almost 2 hours to find that it's an 883 instead. Nice bike but nowhere near the value. As for the X1W (or other Buell models), the bike was going to be for my wife as an upgrade from the Blast. She's not too hip on the other Buell models. A small cruiser is more her style. |

I wish I still had my 883/1200 for sale. I will keep my eyes open for you. I really liked my 883/1200. The difference between the rigid mount engine and the isolated one is incredible. Mine was a black 883 standard that I got new at Stock's for $5,995. The conversion to 1200 was pretty inexpensive. I think Doc's offers it for just $700.00 though my information is a few years old. Good luck in your search. |
