Yes... You should not need to change the swingarm! But if you have to change it, all tube frame Buell swingarms are interchangeable! |

Unless you are going to go to the old style box section swing arm so you can stretch it out for drag racing, keep your new "aluminum arc" swing arm. I have a 97' cyclone with the new style swing arm and it is worlds better. It's many times more rigid than the one that came on the bike. |

Crash, when you say "worlds better" do you mean it handles better? I hadn't heard that before. I thought people mainly did the swap for cosmetic reasons. |

The aluminum arc swingarm is, if I recall correctly, something like 150% more rigid than the box section swing arm. There was a ton of recalls on the original too. Yes, the aluminum one is cooler because you can polish it or whatever you want, but also from a functional standpoint. I can recall what my bike handled like before it was switched and it seemed like the bike was more willing to get "loose" in the rear when cornered hard. Call me crazy, but it is easier for me to hold a line in a corner now than with the old one. |

Interesting... I keep going back and forth on whether to swap to the aluminum swingarm. You just made my decision a little harder, although I've never felt the back end was "loose" even when I've wrung her out on the track. Thanks for the input! |

Well i thought about buying one off ebay to see if i could stretch it just for fun. Are they hollow or solid? |

Hollow. Just get some matching rectangular mild steel tubing and weld it in there. Probably going to need some 7/8" or so round tubing to brace it as well. (Message edited by big_koch on September 08, 2007) |
